I believe he does wear a hairpiece to disguise his receding hairline. He made his career on all that "Vinnie Barbarino" hair. But he's not the only male star who does this - it's been going on for decades.
"That woman" is Idina Menzel, the Broadway star whose name Travolta bungled last year when she sang the nominated theme song from "Frozen." There are plenty of photos today about his inappropriate and too-close touching, not only with Menzel, but also with Scarlett Johansson. He worked with SJ before but came up behind her unexpectedly and was a little too touchy-feely for my taste. I think a lot of men have issues with boundaries and what women find amusing or flattering. Maybe he was just so damn nervous and trying to make up for last year that he went way overboard - or he's trying to see himself as a sex symbol years after his appeal has faded for most.
I thought both women handled it with class given that they were on camera, but I think his agent needs to have a talk with him if he wants to continue to get good gigs as he gets older. He's getting way too much bad press about being creepy.
