I am in desperate need of a breastpump. My single electric pump is not pumping my milk effectively and I really need something to return to work with in two weeks. I looked into buying a new one but since my milk production has been very sporadic, I didn't want to invest so much money into a new pump not knowing if I would actually get the use out of it to make it worth my while. I have even looked on ebay but always get out bid at the last minute. I really would like a Medela pump since they come so highly recommended but the one I rented from the hospital seemed less effective than the one I have now (Evenflo). Since I can't take my daughter to work with me to nurse, I need something that would allow me to pump once or twice a day. Any help anyone can offer would be appreciated.
I got some great offers but unfortunately they are still out of my price range. I know I am probably asking for too much and it seems like the only option would be to go with a less expensive brand of pump. I tried the renting option and had terrible luck with the hospital grade Medela Symphany pump. It seems like the shields don't stimulate my breast in the right area for me to have any let down and I am only getting about an ounce both breasts combined. My Evenflo hand held electric pump gets me a little more but only if I start by expressing milk by hand or have my daughter nurse first. Has anyone heard of a pump that stimulates the nipple more directly cause the shield opennings seem too big for what I need. I really just want to keep my milk production up long enough for my daughter to get some benefit until I can be home with her again and nurse more.
I have pump I need to get rid it is only 15.oo bucks I need to get it out the closet bothof my children are older now . it is a double pump comes with leather carry case was a pump I bought from ebay so it has a pervious ower let me know if you are intrested
You can usually rent one from the hospital or your local pharmacy. Even grocery store pharmacy's rent them. They come w/new sterile tubes and stuff. They are sometimes Medela pumps or hospital strength quality. I think they rent for around 50.00 a month.
P.S. My sister-in-law (somehow I don't know how) got her insurance to pay for a double pump Medela even. I think she had her dr. write a Rx for it.

I have an Ameda Purley Yours double pump that works GREAT! I purchased it for my second son because I had a friend that let me ues hers for my first son... but she also had a second child when I did. I used this pump at work for 3 months and purchased the pump, flanges and extra tubing for 250.00. Make an offer :-)

i would suggest going to Wic as they provide breastfeeding mother returning back to work with a pump...that is all i can think of.
I still have my evenflo hand held pump which I barely used since I was not producing enough and ended up drying up so unfortunately I only breastfed (struggling)for 6 wks.
Please let me know if interested. I paid $40.00 for it.

I had a Medela double electric pump, but I was not able to get the milk out of my right breast. My lactation consultant said we all have a good breast and a better breast. Anyway, the only thing I could get to keep my milk supply going was the good 'ol hand held by Avent. It is very gentle. I think it is about $40, which is less than then kit you will need to buy if you have to get a used Medela.

Are you intested in a used pump? I have a Medela electric double ump that I only used a few times. We bought it at Babies R Us and it was nearly $300. It is a really good pump. I know there are a lot of people who are against more than one person using a pump, but, if you are interested, let me know.

I would consider renting a pump from a lactation consultant if you don't want to make the investment, depending on how long you plan to pump at work. Most moms find they can cut out pumping during the day once their babies are well onto solids, 8 months or so as long as they nurse lots in the evenings and weekends. When you consider how much money you'll save in not buying formula and in decreased doctor's visits, you'll end up saving money!
If you need to increase your milk supply, a hospital grade pump is the best anyway, you might want to talk about it with a lactation consultant.

I'm not sure when you sent this message out or if you have found a pump yet. BUT.. I have 2. A Medelo double and an Evenflo double. My son was a premmie and it was easier for him to bottle feed, so I pumped a lot. I had one for home and work. The Medelo is older and was given to me by my sister in law. The Evenflo is newer. either way you are welcome to either one them. I was looking to donate them so I will just give you one of them.

I used the Medela Pump In Style and it came with an insert that you can use if the sheild is too big. i would check call a lactation consultant and most will speak to you by phone and give you advise with no cost.

Yes, I do have a Medela Pump in Style. It's the double, not a single. What happened to me--I tried to use an Evenflo electric single pump early on for breastfeeding and during the process, the Evenflo pump quit working. In the process of waiting to buy a new, fancy, nice Medela pump...I lost my milk :( So I did try to use the pump but gave up in tears because by the time we spend $300 on this pump, I had no more milk. So, basically, the pump has "never been used" due to the fact that no milk ever ran through it. I am having a garage sale in May and was going to try to sell it there, or sell it to one of my pregnant friends, but if you want to look into it I would be glad to sell it to you instead. Expensive but according to my doula it's supposed to be the best on the market. Very small; it can even be hidden under your blouse. Cheaper if you buy it single.
