We are taking our 6yr old son to Disneyworld next yr but the thing is he isn't into the whole fariy princesses and characters he is more into the action heros, thrills, and the normal 6yo boy stuff. I have never been so I would like you guys to tell me the best part of the whole disneyworld experience he will enjoy more based off of what your kids liked and then would like to know how to go about the best way to plan the vacation cost wise and play wise. I need a beginning point on planning and I have looked into it and it can be a little overwhelming if you don't know where to begin.

He's going to love the rides! We go to Disneyland all the time and we never meet characters. For us, it's all about riding as many rides as we can.

There is a great book called the Unofficial Guide to Disneyworld. It's like $17 but is worth every penny. It really helps you to plan wisely.
Start with Animal Kingdom - lots of boy stuff there - safari, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur and the shows are great Nemo and the Lion King.
Hollywood Studios is amazing too. He'll love the stunt shows and the Toy Story ride.
There is so much to do at the Magic Kingdom that he will love! See Mickey's Philharmagic (saw it twice), Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan's Flight, the Haunted Mansion, the Roller coasters - I can go on and on and on! He will love it. Makes me sad that I am not there right now!! :(
I have taken 2 normal six yo boys there and there was MORE than enough to keep them loving it-they even liked the characters. It is not nearly as princess-oriented as you may think. Your kids will naturally have fun at Disney. I would not metnion to your kids anything about not seeing stuff that is too "girly". Let them naturally pick what they want to checkout with no influence from you or esp your DH.
Hollywood Studios has a lot of boy stuff--Power Rangers, Star Wars are 2 that come to mind. One cool thing was the lite saber battleskit that you could get into outside the ride. Get there early to line up though b/c its really popular.
I also suggest the Unofficial Guide To Disney as a great resource to use. Also the message boards at the big sites .
You are going to get a TON of advice on this. The following is my opinion. There are a ton of books on Disney World at the book store, some with daily itineraries. Your son will probably be more into the Disney characters once they are in his face, if not consider Universal Studios. Consider the meal plan, made our life so much easier. Plan on spending more than you budget for.

You just decide when you want to go-rent a hotel suite, rent a car and take more money than you ever dreamed on spending in one day times the number of days you will be there and add $1000. Simple. Oh-it's really hot there in June-you'll want to rip off your own face. My children loved it -and Epcot, the water parks and Sea World!
There is a lot more to do at the DW parks then meeting characters (with or without princesses). If your son is a thrill seeker then he will have plenty to choose from. All the parks are family friendly so there are a lot of options. If he really likes superheroes then I would suggest one or two days at Universal.
I would start with WDW’s website and check out the different rides and attractions at each park (there are 4) and go from there.
If you do park hoppers I would do Hollywood Studios over Epcot. It has the Star Wars stuff and more thrill rides. If you get there when it opens you can do Jedi training which is sooooo much fun for the kids and its super cute! I can't help with vacation costs because I have season passes. Just thought I'd throw Hollywood Studios out there

We are planning a trip also and I have 2 girls but we ordered the free WDW DVD and it shows a place the boys can get made over to become pirates! I would definitly order the free DVD there is a lot on it!
