Mamas
This year for the first time in years we are going to stay in Dallas for Spring Break. I will not be putting my kids in any camps but like to take them to diffrent places we haven't been. Like the new museum in down town.( what is it called),Ride the train.
I have taken to the zoo and aquarium. I am looking for some fun inexpensive things to do with my kids. My girls are 5 and 7 .
Thanks

1. backyard camping
2. picnic at park
3. zoo
4 overnight (mommy too) at grandmas
5. an overnighter in a hotel (pool, late pizza party in room)
That's what I usually do my daughter who is now 6. The things we've done are: zoo, aquarium, Discovery Garden (butterflies in fair park), Arboretum for a picnic, indoor water park in Allen. The Perot Museum is great. You should go, but they're saying you should buy your tickets on-line now b/c they're expecting to sell out. Flight Museum by Love Field is fun. We also go to the library and look at books.
Children's Hospital in Dallas has an amazing model train layout. The biggest in the country. We have taken my son there. You can ride trolleys for free in Dallas and catch lunch on the line. http://www.mata.org/ There is also a really neat new park close to the line. I think it's easiest to use that to get to the park, though. You'd just have to look on the website. http://www.klydewarrenpark.org/ All the studio Movie Grill theaters in the area, have $2.00 Kidstoons movies on Saturday and Sunday mornings. They are older movies, but good ones. Dallas Heritage Village is really fun!! They have events going on in March, that are fun and affordable. http://www.dallasheritagevillage.org/EventCalendar.aspx
Good luck!!
The Perot Museum is new one and is great. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance online. They often sell out for the whole day and the tickets are for a specific time of entry. They only allow so many people every 30 minutes.
My only advice is not to arrive at the World Aquarium at or before opening time - it's standing room only. Wait a few hours, after lunch, for the crowds to thin. I would call ahead to Children's Medical Center about the trains; I'm not sure it's open to the public.
Dallas Arboretum -- it's beautiful.. not sure if they will be 100% ready a Spring Break but it is still lovely... you can take a picnic.
The Perot Museum (it's the new one you mentioned)
Science Place in Fair Park
American Girl store and lunch at the Galleria if they are into the American Girl things
Galleria ice skating
Go see the Mustangs at Los Colinas
Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine
Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine
I also recommend heading to Ft. Worth to see Stockyards, Sundance Square, and the zoo.
Have fun!
Grapevine Mills Mall has LegoLand and an aquarium. Plus shopping!
What about heading to Ft. Worth and going to the stockyards, Grapevine, visit the Ft. Worth Zoo, etc. ?
