I'm wondering if anyone has parts of the Daisy kit they are willing to sell or give away. My daughter is new to Daisies this fall, and the kit today costs $61. I thought that was a lot especially if someone might have bits and pieces of it laying around anyway. We need the Welcome to the DAISY Flower Garden book, the Daisy Girl Scout Activity Book, the apron in an 8/10 or larger, the iron-on petals, the gold insignia tab, the iron-on American flag, the world association pin, the daisy girl scout pin, and the lime green Girl Scout bag. I appreciate your help!

What can I do next?

Some of this is taken care of with dues is it not?
When I did GS my Daisy moms paid $10 a month and I was able to buy their petals as they earned them and the pins. I presented them in ceremonies. I also had a small budget from the service unit that helped out.
My girls were required to have the blue vest and at the time we didn't have any flag on it. They also had the books.
The World Association pin is given by the Service Unit the first time a girl goes to Thinking Day, or it used to be.

Have you checked on ebay? You can often find used girl scout items for sale on the site.

You should also tell your leader that you need financial help. There might be funds available in the troop to help with everything.

Just so you know...the only thing you REALLY need is the pin to be an "official" girl scout. Many others WANT the apron/vest to have a place for the patches but you only really need the pin. I picked up my essentials and slowly bought the other "fun" stuff when I decided to. The holidays are coming...leave some items for that. My MIL was thrilled to get some extra fun stuff.

Have you checked ebay?

She really needs her own vest/apron it will become a keepsake as for the books she does not really need them and the patches should come from troop dues and will be earned through the year except for the troop number, council patch, American Flag, and yellow insignia pin holder. Good Luck!

My daughter is in her 1st year of Brownies. She did daisies for 2 years. We were NEVER out anything but the initial registration this yr is $12 and then the vest/apron. That it.... the books etc are not needed. etither. nor the tote. See if they are a nessecity per your leader as they are not with the association.

you sould be able to get the vest with the pins for under 35.00 nothing else is needed.

also you should NEVER be out anything for supplies etc... That is what the girls selling candy, nuts, magazines and cookies are for. They learn to sell earn patches (which is paid by the troop funds from them selling) etc..

Our girls have stayed at Great Wolf Lodge two years and row from the money they have earned from selling as well as their monthly activity is paid (pumpkin patch place, movies, camping etc...)

Its about the girls learning and not the parents digging a whole in their pocket....

If you have to get the books check to see if anyone bought any and never used them on Ebay or Craigslist.

You might also call the Girl Scout Store and see if they have a recycle box of things that have been donated or outgrown. There used to be a Girl Scout store in FW. Most of the time the troop pays for the Daisy girl scout pin for the leader to pin on and then turn right side up when they do a " good turn",( but I guess that is actually the parents that are paying for the pins) You might also check at Half Price Books and see if they have current scouting books in stock that have been turned in. Good luck!
