The running joke in our house is that my now 15 year old will someday rule the world. She wants to be a veterinarian, or a lawyer or both and work for animal rights. Or a judge. She would be a great judge. In the meantime I have to steer her through highschool.
She is going ot the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference soon, Have any of your children done this?
What should I expect?
Do they get to call home? Not that she would need to she has been away before
It says conservative business attire? What does that mean for a 15 year old? We bought her two suits from Ross will she be overdressed, underdressed? ONe is a pansuit the other a skirt and jacket, and we got her a woolen dress.
She will meet with her Congressman? Really? About what? Does she have to have any questions prepared? It didn't say in the literature I have.
Will she have time for any schoolwork? Should I send her computer with her? She takes two online classes and her teachers keep up with their websites so she wouldn't miss anything if she were to have the time.
Is there anything I should be aware of that you didn't know at the beginning that would have been helpful?

My two cents on the meeting with her congressman. . . review his website, look at his voting record and his campaign platform. Let her find one thing she is interested in that the congressman has worked on or supported and have a couple of questions and her opinions ready to share.
The outfits sound perfect from past experience with a similar program.
How fun!! this is an excellent experience she will remember forever.
Sounds like you have the dress issue covered........just look and see what women are wearing on TV in that type of setting....that should give you a clue......
Sounds like you have a great daughter there.....keep it up!!! I knew someone who was picked for this, but she couldn't go due to money...... :-( and her Mom fearing something would happen.....
I would think she should have some questions.....they may not have time for them, but you would want her to be prepared if they do....
