Curvy Girls - Let's Discuss Jeans!!

I am short, curvy, and a little "thick". Admittedly, I have a little bit of weight to lose. So, needless to say, finding jeans that are cute, fit right, are the right length, make me feel good, are modestly priced (and don't make me look like an Oompa Loompa) is very difficult.

However, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE the way Old Navy jeans fit me. They seem to cut their jeans for my body type. Plus, I love the fact that they have different lengths, cuts, rises, colors, styles, etc. and they are pretty affordable. The "Diva" and "Dreamer" are my favorites. Skinny, bootcut, you name it - I love it!

So, bodacious ladies, what is your favorite jean? Please share all of the details with all of your sistas!!

What can I do next?

Love my Levis. I posted last year about trying Lee jeans and how they made me feel like I was wearing pants from Three's Company they were so high waisted. Talk about "Mom" jeans, yikes!

I like Old Navy Jeans too! Old Navy slacks are my favorite too. I look for dark denim with a buttoned flap or embellishment on the pockets. That seems to be the most flattering and give me a little added oomph in the bootay.

Ususally though, I buy my jeans at the thrift store. They are already broken in and are dirt cheap. At $3 a pair, no regrets if I get them home in my own mirror and hate them. I go and grab everything in my size and try them all on. I have found some perfect jeans, no idea the makers, at thrift stores.

My Aunt swears by INC. jeans... I think they sell them at MACY's (ALWAYS look for a sale 7 extra coupon - never buy full price from Macy's!)

They have great sales and you can get decent items for a good price.

Now if anyone can tell me where you can find an 18/20 summer t-shirt WITH OUT cap sleeves - it would be like winning the lottery!!! Seriously people.... no one (I've looked everywhere) sells a big girl T with sleeves that cover the fat/bat wing arms most of us have!

Interesting,,,I HATE Old Navy jeans (and just about everything else they sell). I have found that all of their cuts are too low in every size. I don't need my ample behind falling out of the back of my jeans. I am a size 16 now but I have found nothing flattering there since I was a size 10.

My favorite jeans are Merona Boot Cut at Target. I can only get them on-line now. They have a no-gap waistband, aren't cut too high or too low (a little below the waist but not ridiculously so), hold things in through the hips and thighs without binding or suffocating and then make a nice, balanced silhouette down to the ankle. They do fall apart quickly though so I go through about 3 pair a year.

What I really want is for someone to make jeans with reinforced inner thighs. Like Toughskins for curvy women. I hate throwing out pair after pair of jeans because the inner thighs wear out from rubbing together. Such a waste!

Ok first there is a difference between curvy and heavy, and since you describe yourself as curvy and thick I am a little confused. I am trying to picture it. I have always been curvy. When I was a size four I still carried most of my weight in my thighs, and even though I didn't have alot of weight on my hips I have wide hip bones, so I am curvy. Alot of jeans that fit me in the leg area are to big in the waist and vise versa. This is why I love American Eagle boyfriend jeans. They fit both my waist and my thighs. However if you are heavy vs curvy they might be tight in your waist. (but they do have little spandex in them.)

I loved the Sweetheart jeans, but won't be buying Old Navy any more. They don't prewash their fabric and I've had more than one pair of jeans shrink at least a size. (Of course, the last time I bought some, the sizing was wrong and the 12s wear like a 14 and won't shrink.)

Too inconsistent for me to spend $30 on. :( I'll be looking to see other favorites.

Another vote for INC jeans from Macy's - I recently got some and absolutely LOVE them!

Torrid, gradual skinny or now the curvy skinny I think - again they come in all the lengths - I like the double tall and tall (6'2). I am thick and curvy. My friend who has a tiny waist but is very curvy wears Lucky Brand.

Cato contemporary cut jeans. I always have bunching at the waist when I get jeans to fit my hips, but not with those.

I like Old Navy, but I like Gap much better. I try to get them in the thrift store if I can.

I always wore Lee jeans. They came up to my natural waist and fit in the hips. They didn't bag anywhere or bind. I could move in them and often wore them out dancing. They looked good with all my 7 pairs of cowboy boots and if I wanted to wear a tube top with a little sheer jacket over it they came up to the waist and no skin was hanging over the top like a mushroom.
