A lot of the shoppers on the show collect coupons from their friends, co-workers, and moms of their kids at school (I just saw an episode where the preschooler brings home coupons in her backpack for grandma and mom to sort.)
I'm not familiar with the Bay area papers, but here in SoCal we have basically 2 to get, the L.A. Times and the OC Register, which have about the same. The 99 cent Only Store sells papers until they run out, so if you see they have good deals go back and pick up as many papers as you can. Once you use just one $1 coupon you've paid for the paper.
I don't use coupon sites, per se, with a toddler I don't have the time right now, but I "liked" the Facebook page of Frugal Girls, https://www.facebook.com/thefrugalgirls?ref=ts to receive alerts of printable coupons and deals to use them on that net me the biggest savings. If you're not a FB user they have a website:
http://www.TheFrugalGirls.com
Another Facebook page to like is Hunt4Freebies, https://www.facebook.com/Hunt4Freebies?ref=ts which posts freebies, as well as deals involving coupons and sometimes printable coupons. Their website is: http://hunt4freebies.com/ and their strictly coupon site is: http://hunt4freebies.com/coupons/
FYI, there's a new article out today that says extreme couponers have caused stores to change their coupon policies...no more "stacking", etc...
