Please help Moms..I am a first time mother to a very sociable, easy going 10 mos. old...However, unless I am running him around all day or playing with him every minute he is clingy and crying...Example: When I come downstairs after he has been perfectly happy playing by himself while my husband is there...He takes one look at me darts over to me and starts to cry so I will pick him up.If we are home alone together during the day he wants my complete attention or he is just crying.... When I take him out to activities he barely notices if I am there or not he's running with the kids and smiling at all the other Moms....But, when we are home alone it's AWFUL!! I cannot get a thing done....He also LOVES to be out and about shopping, visiting, whatever, he is a joy to take out and be with but being home alone is a struggle everyday. I have tried distracting him with anything and everything...Each distraction lasts for about 5 min. I cannot always run out the door sometimes I need to stay home and get a few thing done. Please, please please help me with some suggestions......

I'm going through the same thing with my almost 1 yr old! I've heard that once they start walking it can subside a bit- right now my daughter wants me to walk her EVERYWHERE!!! I think once she is able to walk on her own and can be a little more independent she'll be less whiny. Do you have one of those little walkers that he can push- my daughter LOVES hers- it has bought me some time b/c she can follow me around with it instead of my having to walk her or help her get places...Good luck!

Totally normal ;)

It's the separation anxiety phase that takes place at the end of the first year. My normally easy-going nine-month old has just started the same thing. LOL.

I hate to say it but - it is completely age appropriate... usually begins around 9 mos. - he will grow out of it - just have to grin and bear it. :)

Yup, it's a stage, he'll grow out of it eventually. The only advice I have for you is to get him involved in whatever it is you're doing...if you're trying to wash dishes, give him a pot and spoon to bang with...if you're trying to fold laundry, play peekaboo with the towels as you're folding. Yes, it'll take you 10 times as long to get anything done but try not to worry about all the stuff that's not getting done around the house. There are some things you have to let slide to maintain your sanity. :) Good luck!
