Hi
Im about to start Chlomid ( fertility medicine). Any others have any storied from thier experience? Hoping they arent all full of how crazy the medicine makes you?
I have a friend who has PCOS. Her frist round of Clomid she got pregnant. She was a little more moody then usual but other then that seemed fine.
I have 2 friends that are pregnate now, and they both took Chlomid. One tried for three months and as soon as they raised the dosage she got pregnate.
My other friend got pregnate on it after the first try.
They both have been trying to concieve on thier own for over 4 years.
Good luck :)
My story may be different as I have PCOS....we tried Chlomid and I ovulated twice but did not get pregnant. We then moved on to two rounds of injectables that didn't work, however I ovulated and then bamm, on the month we weren't on meds we got pregnant. I am now 6 weeks.
Chlomid really didn't effect me at all. I was in a good mood. Chlomid works for alot of people, so I'm sure it will for you too. And if it doesn't, it isn't the end of the world ...there are other medications.
I will definately pray for you, as I know that is what helped us achieve pregnancy.
God Bless!
It worked on the second try and my baby is now one. I got a little emotional from it, but my doctor said he thinks that is because I hadn't been ovulating and wasn't used to the hormone surge or something like that.
I had wonderful hot flashes day and night when I was on it. I was on a higher dose, but I did get pregnant 4 out of 6 cycles. (Miscarried 2 times due to progesterone issues, nothing to do with the meds)
i used clomid for both of my pregnancies and do not remember any bad side effects. for my first pregnancy, i think i took it for 2 cycles...for my second, i took it 3 cycles and nothing...a new doctor upped the strength of the prescription and i got pregnant the next month. so if it doesnt work after a few months, ask your doctor if you can up the strength.
good luck

I took clomid for my second pregnancy because my cycles were about 50-60 day apart. The tricky thing is that you have to figure out when you ovulate. I used something called the "maybe mom ovulation predictor". I bought it from walgreens. You use your saliva on it daily. Your saliva has more salt in it when you are ovulating. It is much cheaper than buying the ovulation sticks. I got pregnant the first cycle of clomid. I did not have any bad side effects but I was only on the lowest dose. Good luck!

I got pregnant with my first two children with Clomid, within 4 mos of being on the med. Other than a few hot flashes, I had no major side effects. Good luck!
I highly recommend the site fertilityfriend.com. In addition to the tools (which are great), the communities on this site are extremely helpful. They kept me sane during the long months I waited trying to get pregnant with my son (I have PCOS, tried cholmid unsuccessfully and ended up getting pregnant two days after starting on Metformin.) If I remember right, there is a whole community devoted to clomid users. It's very active, so you can learn almost anything you need to by just reading one day's worth of posts.
Hi S....
First off...good luck with getting pregnant. I know what a long and stressful road infertility issues can pose (I've been there and am currently in the process again). Clomid really isn't a bad drug to take. You only have to take it for 5 days adn the only side effect I ever had was "hot flashes"...those were tolerable. Hang in there and keep positive. Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!!

I have PCOS and have been trying to get pregnant. I finished my second round of Clomid and find out in a week if I am pregnant! I took mine at night, right before bed, and the worst thing were the occasional hot flashes, and some minor moodiness. They were nothing worse than what regular PMS is...Good luck getting pregnant!!!!
Hi S.,
I personally have not taken chlomid, but three of my friends have and it made them all crazy- their words, not mine. I was in the beginning stages of fertility talks with my OB and after a few preliminary tests to be sure nothing was wrong, I had a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which is an X-ray test that examines the inside of the uterus and fallopian tubes and the surrounding area to make sure nothing is blocked. Although it is meant to just see if anything is blocked, often times it proves to be therapeutic and opens up the tubes. It worked for me and apparently a very high percentage of women overall, including a bunch of Mamasource moms who gave me great calming advice before I had it done. So, I guess this is just a long-winded way of suggesting you have the HSG done prior to undertaking a round of chlomid, it might be less of an ordeal and more effective. Good luck! R.
I took for Clomid for 6 cycles. I took my pill at night, right before bed, and other than an occassional hot flash while sleeping, I didn't have any other side effects. Clomid made me ovulate every month, and although I didn't get pregnant while on it, I hope it works for you. Best wishes!
I got pregnant on the 3rd cycle with clomid with the help of IUI (intrauterine insemination). No real side effects other than some wicked hot flashes that would wake me up in the middle of the night. Way worth it though!
Took it for about 6 months to get my ovulation going after a miscarriage (it worked). My only effect was hot flashes at night.
Eventually got pg on our own the month after stopping Clomid (actually found out I was pg after scheduling a laproscopy with fertility doctor--glad I didn't need the surgery!).
Good luck!

I might not be the norm, but I had no side effects except cramping one day for like 10 minutes. I also got pregnant the first try. Somebody was watching over me, because the doctors think it is a miracle I was ever able to conceive, let alone first tries all three times.
I was on Chlomid for 3 months, had no problems or side effects. I got pregnant on the 3rd month, but ended up miscarrying. Prior to that I was not able to get pregnant after 3 full years of trying. We went through a lot of tests and couldn't find out what was holding things back. After my miscarriage I got pregnant that very next month. They had taken me off Chlomid, but I believe that it spurred my body into figuring it out. Ever since then, I have had no problems getting pregnant. We are expecting child number 4 this fall. Hard to imagine what we went through to have our 1st baby and here we are....we are very blessed. Best wishes to you and your growing family!
We had tried to get pregnant for a year and after a miscarriage (which turned out to be a molar pregnancy, which means you have all the symptoms of a pregnancy, including the weight gain, but even more rapidly gaining weight, but the only thing growing in you is a clump or grape type things). Then we went on clomid 1 year later, we got pregnant the first month (I did not have any side effects from it), but then had a real miscarriage, but got pregnant 2 weeks after that mis-carriage and now have a healthy wonderful 2 year old boy. I guess the clomid mis-carriage just helped prepare my body for a baby.
Good luck to you, we are now at the point of starting Letrozole (which is supposed to be better then clomid). So we are starting over again with fertility and trying to get my son a brother or sister (or 2 :).
I took 6 rounds of clomid. The last (and highest) round gave me migraines and mood swings. But it resulted in pregnancy! I now have a healthy soon to be 3 year old. I was then able to lose weight and managed to get pregnant the 2nd time with out clomid. That was a surprise to me. Good luck!!!
I took my clomid in the morning with my thyroid meds, the only 2 side affects that drove me crazy were the hot flashes and the mood swings. I could deal with the hot flashes but man did it make me crabby all the time! I would fly off the handle at the smallest things. I too took it for 6 months and did not get pregnant on it. I wish you lots of luck!
I took it to get pregnant with my second and it only took 4 months. I was a little moody but I think that is because I had to take progesterone also to start my cycles. I also gained some weight. No horrible side effects though and I have a wonderful 3-year-old girl now :)
I charted my temps too and would highly recommend doing that!
