Hey Mama's! I've received much help in the past and am sure you won't let me down this time either. My 3rd year anniversary is coming up this Monday. We have one son and it was my husbands first Father's Day so I went all out and made him a cute scrapbook with pictures of him and my son. I also made him home-made pizza and home-made ice-cream. Now, I am at a loss of what to do for our anniversary. It needs to be as close to free as possible as we are on a very tight budget. I'm excited to see what y'all suggest! Thanks.

What can I do next?

This really depends on what you like to do. I know that it has been very hot outside, but a nice romantic picnic is always good. The Botanical Garden is completely free or you could go watch the symphony at the park. These events are all free if you do not want to get a table. You can take a picnic basket along with a bottle of wine.

What about setting up a spa at home? Give your husband a pedicure (minus the polish!) and a massage. You'd just need a pumice to get rid of those rough heels and massage lotion/oil. If you have someone to watch baby- great! Otherwise, wait until after he goes to sleep.
Good luck and have fun!

Hi J.,
One thing that he might like (I don't know, some guys would some wouldn't...) unless you've already done this, is give him a few or one really good picture of you and your son, maybe a framed one to have at work and a wallet size to carry with him...my son is almost 6 months, and we did that one day just because, if you get a friend to take the pic, upload it to walmart, I think 5x7's are less than a dollar, etc, so probalby less than $5...? We definitely understand that tight budget!

Hello J.,

have someone take the baby for a few hours. make a simple meal and dress up the table. and if you're the card playing type... play some poker ... like s t r i p poker. (I don't know why I came up w/ that idea, since I've never even played poker before but sounded like a fun game for an anniversary night) I've seen poker chips at the dollar tree store. for less than $5 you can decorate the table, get cards and chips.

or plan a scavenger hunt around the house. plant some clues about when you met, where you went for dates, etc.

find online couples questionnaires and pick a few questions that would be fun for the two of you to talk about.
for example here is a questionnaire from a wedding planner:
1. Why are you having a Celebrant wedding?

2. How did you first meet? How did you feel about the other one at that time?

3. Where was your first date? What were the first words you spoke to each other?

4. When did you first fall in love? (How did you know?)

5. When did you decide that you wanted to be together forever? Why?

6. How did you propose or accept the proposal?

7. What do you love about your partner? What qualities do you most admire in her or him?

8. What does your partner do that always makes you laugh?

9. What actions of your partner’s says “I love you” to you?

10. When do you or did you feel closest to your partner?

11. Would you like to share any touching, funny or revealing stories about the two of you?

12. What are your hopes for the future?

most of all have fun. don't get too tired planning. ~C.~

Why not get a sitter (friend, parent, sibling) to keep your child and just have a really nice night in with your hubby. Cook or order in something you both love or something special to when you were first married or dating. Do something you don't get to do much any more since having your child -- movie, play games, talk, etc. Basically just spend the evening enjoying each other and why you fell in love to begin with.

One year, right after my son was born, my mother kept him and my hubby and just I went to a local river -- it's nothing fancy or pretty -- and just got muddy and walked and talked and enjoyed the quiet and alone time. We always talk about that even 5 years later.

Good Luck -- let us know what you decide to do.

Have a friend come and "kid-nap" the baby for the evening and have a romantic night-IN.

Have dinner and a movie (rented or bought) and dessert (or skip it for something better [wink]).

Be sure to tell your friend to call before coming back (just in case).

Happy Anniversary! :o)
