Changing My Babies New Found 5:00 a.m. Schedule?

So now that its dark in the morning, my 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. baby now wakes at 5:00 or 5:30. I could suck it up and adjust but my three year old who takes a three hour afternoon nap does not go down until 9:00 p.m. (which is when I need to start going to bed if I'm going to get up at 5:00). This takes away any time I have to spend with my husband. If I don't put my three year old down for a nap she goes to bed at 8:00. I'd prefer not to take that route since i really like the down time and baby/mommy time that afternoon toddler nap provides. Advice?

What can I do next?

My son is 5 and naps in the afternoon.
He still goes to bed at night just fine, by 8:00-8:30pm.
My 8 year old daughter goes to bed about the same time.
Both my kids wake up on the morning by 6:30am.
They went through temporary phases of waking up earlier.
It is temporary.

I, go to bed whenever.
My Hubby too.
So, THIS is when, after the kids go to bed, that me/Hubby can have any alone time.
But for you, you get up at 5:00am.
Me, even if I don't have to, I am awake too, very early in the morning like you. But I don't need much sleep to function.

Or, make your 3 year olds nap, earlier.
When is he/she going to nap anyway?
My son naps in the afternoons, even at 3:30 on school days, and he naps for 2 hours. Still goes to bed at night just fine. Earlier than 9:00pm.
And do the bedtime routine/bath, earlier for your 3 year old, even an earlier dinner. So that he is already set for bed, earlier. And make everything dark and quiet... 1 hour before the actual bedtime. To 'cue' him.

Does your 3 year old need the nap?
Because if not, she goes to bed at 8:00pm.
But you said you like time with the baby when your 3 year old is napping.
So, back to square one.

As I sit at my computer reading your post, I look at the time and it is now 6:10 am. I was woken up by my 1 year old at 5:26 am and knew, I am up for the day. The last few days, she has been waking up very early!!!! Yes, I tried to lay her back down, but it never works. I will however, put her down for her first "nap" at 7:30 am. By that time, my 4 year old will be up. I would love for my baby to sleep until 7 or so. She is also teething, and it up a few times a night. I know it is just a phase because I vividly remember being up this early with my older daughter for a short time. Thankfully, I'm a morning person, and it really doesn't effect my day.
Well, I really don't have any advise, just know that it is a phase, and you are not alone.
Take care and good luck!

My 12 month old wakes up at 5 a lot, and I go in and nurse her then put her back down. She has to stay in her bed until at least 7 like the rest of us (my 3 year old has the same rule..he knows to not call out for us until his little monkey alarm clock opens its eyes at 7). Sometimes she gets pretty mad and will scream and holler for a few minutes, but she always goes back to sleep. I think 5 is still nighttime and should be treated like a night waking--that's really not a habit you want to stick around and it throws off the rest of the days' schedule too. Best of luck!

I had that same problem with my children, and the answer I have for you is "learn to love it."

Putting blackout shades helped a little, shutting the bedroom door helped a little, but my son woke up between 4:30 and 5:30 from the time he was 1 to the present (he is now 3). He mostly gets up 5:30-6:00 now, which is fine because I go to work early, but is still early.

Going to bed later, going to bed earlier, no nap, long nap, nothing really helped when he was younger. Now, if he goes to bed @ 9:00, he could get up after 6:00, but he is just an early bird.

Sorry!

Don't forget the time change coming around the corner. That will make baby's wake time at 6:00 - 6:30.

I would hate for you to try to work it out to get baby up later and then have to deal with the time change in a few weeks. Unless that works even better for you! :)
