Hello Ladies,
The hot days are getting closer and closer, we have a ceiling fan on our bedroom (where my 10 mo sleeps). Is it ok to use a very low setting while he sleeps? We used it when he was newborn, but he'd sleep on our chest. We never used it when he was in his crib alone.
Thanks
Well Thank you
was worreid about using a ceiling fan because I didnt want him to get too cold during the night without me noticing too much. That was the only main reason why I asked about it
But starting tonight (if its really hot), Im going to use it
Thnaks again

I keep them on 24/7 to circulate air. I have her's set to the medium setting. I have also found the noise of it helps her sleep better through noises in the house and outside (like dogs barking). Good Luck!
I used mine in the summer when my kids were babies. If I didn't it just got too dang hot!
Yes, it's absolutely okay to use a fan in your baby's room. In fact our pediatrician recommends it, even in the winter. (Of course, using a low setting in the wintertime.) It's supposed to reduce the risk of SIDS. Have you heard that ceiling fans are not safe?
M., We have always kept a fan going since birth for our children mainly for " white noise". It is not harmful and actually is comforting.
The thing we learned to do was clean it at least one time a week.
My girl's fans are on 24/7. It reduces the risk of sids and helps circulate the air.
they say using a fan can reduce sids. i would ask the dr. if you are worried but i use a fan in my dd room, not ceiling bc ours are too low, but it really helps circulate the air in there and I know that makes me feel better!
Yes!! It is more than okay to use it. Studies have shown that using fans in your babies room can decrease the risk of SIDS (not that you need to worry about that too much at 10 months though). We have always used a fan while we slept, therefore have always used a fan with our daughter who is now 16 months. She always gets warm when she sleeps as most people do. I would keep it on low, but yes, please use it! ^_^
I've read that a gentle fan an actually help prevent SIDS - also it's more dangerous for your baby to be too hot than a little cool. If you're comfortable in the room with the fan running then Baby is too! ;)
You didn't mention if you have a/c...
I used a portable a/c in our son's room when he was a baby 'cuz we didn't have central a/c and his room would get up to 90 - he got used to the white noise so now that we have central air we run a white noise machine in his room and and rattley old fan in our baby girl's room for white noise and a little breeze.
I turn on the fan all the time in the summer and right before I go to bed I feel my daughter's skin to see if she's chilled. If it feels cold I just turn the fan so it's not blowing directly on her (we have an oscillating fan that sits atop her dresser) but a ceiling fan that's so high up should circulate the air nicely and not blow so hard as to chill him.
We always have our fans on. In fact, usually on Medium or high. Just check to make sure he isn't getting cold. It never bothered our son when he was sleeping in our room, the family room, or in his own room. It's just too hot without tohe fan on, even with the AC!
im not understanding why you would think twice about it. i think id melt if i didnt have a fan...........even in the winter
I use it for my 18 month old son's room on the very lowest setting. And I make sure in the middle of the night to go in there and see if it's too cold then I turn if off. He, also, has a light blanket to start out with if it's cooler.
I don't understand what you are worried about, unless it is so low that he could reach it...
We've used our son's fan from day one. We have always kept it on the highest setting. I wanted to keep the fan on ever since I read about fans reducing the risk of SIDS.
How come you don't think fans are ok and have kept it on a lower setting? Just curious.
