Just wondering what others have done my son is in 2nd grade and nobody signed up for head room mom they just signed up to help out with the parties so I offered to help organize it all but I can't always make the parties due to I am a stay at home mom and run an in home daycare so just wondering what you would do??
Yes! I've been room mom for my son's class for the last 3 years. Most of the time I was emailing/calling parents for snacks and stuff. My son's school did not let parents attend in-class parties, so that was never an issue. I just had to organize who was bringing what. Just let the teacher know you're interested and that you may have some limitations:)

Then, there is usually a 2nd Head Room Mom.
That is how it is for my Daughter's classes.
Or, if not, ASK for one.

of course... i've worked with moms that couldnt' make all the parties.. they helped organize the party, sent in a baked good.. and asked another mom to attend.. or a grandma or a dad.. it worked out great.. more parents got to go into the class... do it.. you won't regret it...
You can totally do it!! The other parents can help at times and if you are great at organizing - go for it!! That's what a lot of people lack skill in :o).
You can do it. Our class room mom last year was a working mom. She took charge and sent out the begging emails for help with parties, but didn't always attend the parties. The hard part is just getting people to help out. Whether or not you attend personally isn't the big issue at all, especially if you have people willing to help at the parties.
Of course- your main job is to make sure that all of the details are handled for each event. You will be making phone calls, emailing reminders and making sure that the teacher is in the loop.
Make sure that you are prepared to take charge of a group of moms who all have varied ideas! My mom was our "lead mom" growing up and I remember her inviting the volunteer parents to our house at the start of the school year for an "organizational" meeting- snacks, beverages and lots of "who-does-what". This worked out really well b/c it was all designated at the start and not left to the last minute. All she had to do for the rest of the year was send reminders;.
As long as the moms are there to work the parties, you can be room mom. Just organize everything and hand it off to the parents working the parties.
