We enjoy going to Lake Ray Roberts. The camping area that we like to go to is Isle De Bioux. They have showers/restrooms that they keep very clean.
Any suggestions for a great camping area (tent camping) in a 1-2 hour radius of Dallas? I'm trying to plan a "man weekend" for my husband as a surprise so I'm doing the leg work myself.
Thanks!

All of the sites mentioned are great. Dont forget Dinosaur Valley National Park in Glen Rose, TX.
Turner Falls a little past the OK border on 35 is a great place. They can camp in a tent, but still use restrooms that they have. Water is also pretty there. You can be kinda remote there, or not, which is what I like. (not that I'm a huge camper or anything lol)
My husband & I really like Tyler State Park. Check it out. You're sweet to plan this surprise for him!
Lake Murray in OK is about 2 hours away and BEAUTIFUL! My hubby took my kids up there a few weeks ago to check it out for camping. Plenty of campsites, beautiful, crystal clear water, a huge trampoline in the lake to play on and a slide, you can rent paddle boats, etc. Lots to do, I think you can look it up online at the OK state park.
Lake Whitney State Park is a nice lake and camping area. They have a lot of great sites that are pretty level for tent camping. You can get electricity and water at some and there is primitive (which has not water and electricity). Depends on what your husband likes. The fishing is also good there, and the water is clean. It's about 1-1 1/2 hours from the metroplex. We live in Hurst.
Tawakoni State Park is great and has new bathrooms that are kept clean. About 2 hour drive from Hurst.
Murrell Park at Grapevine Lake in Flower Mound has some great site. It also has a fantastic hiking/biking trail.
