Does anyone have any information/experience to share with me about Bubbles Academy. I am thinking of enrolling my 4 month old daughter in one of their programs, mainly in the hopes of meeting other parents with young babies.

Hi M.,

I have a 9 month old boy and I have attended 1 session of Bubbles academy, the goo-gah bubbles. It's pretty good, I am signing him up for the second session, the crawlers one. Everybody is very friendly and my kid loves it. Now he gets excited when we arrive there.

Hope this helps, I might see you there!

hi, i went to 1 class and it was ok. but they seemed pushy and a little money hungry. i ended up taking him to the little gym for 1 yr. and he just loved it. we started at 4mos age.

We love Bubbles, too! I especially love the "Open Play" which you don't have to pay for in advance - but your baby may be young for that. You can also just pay a drop in price for classes if you don't want to commit. I see that you're in Oak Park, so I'm not sure if meeting moms in chicago will help you. Is there another location I don't know about? I just wanted to say that I met so many moms who I'm in touch with almost every day (talk about playgroups!) just at the park. Don't be afraid to see other moms at the park and talk and ask advice. You can tell when they have babies close to your age. We all want to talk and share and exchange phone numbers. We go for walks in the morning and afternoons. You don't have to have a formal playgroup to be in touch ESPECIALLY in the summer! Wish you were in Chicago -- I'd invite you over to our local park. Good luck!

I had my son in the movement and music class when he was 18 mos. old. He loved it and so did I. The staff are so wonderful. Helpful, friendly, everything you could ask for. The facility is amazing and everything is very well run. I couldn't reccomend it more highly!

Best of luck,

hi-
i love bubbles! i have been bringing my 18 month old girl there for over a year. it's a great place to meet other mommy's. they just started a new social group this week and have a discount on the club. i think the club is called triple b club. something like that. my sister in law signed up for it and yesterday was her first time going. she has a 4 month old too. you should try it out. it's alot of fun.

We took our son there when he was less than a year old and he loved it. We loved it as well. The other parents were warm and welcoming as was the staff. The kids learned sign language, spanish, fun games and songs and it helped our little one go down for nap easier after exerting all of that energy. We loved it, especially for the winter when you're stuck inside and don't know what to do with your little one.

I also noticed that you're in Oak Park too. Have you been to the main library yet? It's fantastic! They have all sorts of activities for the kids. We have our son in a reading club now where he wins awards for every 24 - 15 minutes of reading with the family.

M.,
I have been to one of their classes and it is very good. I never signed up b/c I thought it was too expensive. I think it was more expensive than Gymboree. Anyhoo, in my humble opinion, if you want to meet more mothers - start a playgroup. You can find resources or a playgroup to join by going to www.northsideparents.org. There is a joining fee of $30 or so, but that is alot cheaper than Bubbles. I am still meeting once/week with my playgroup that I met over 1 1/2 years ago.

Just a thought.

I think Bubbles is a lot of fun. You can do a "trial" class and check it out first before you enroll, at least they used to allow parents to do that. That way you can see for yourself before committing to enrolling. Which location are you thinking of?
