My son also had that. I think I found it was called an eruption cyst. It was very disturbing! But as soon as the tooth came thru it went away. Don't worry he will be fine!
My son has a purple lump on his upper gum that I noticed last night. I read what I could find about it, and apparently it is a hematoma caused from a molar getting ready to erupt. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this?? Thanks!

when my son was about 6 months he got the same thing on his gums. i was freaked out i didn't know what it was. i took him to his pediatrician right away and she said it was a cyst. something about to much gum where the tooth is trying to come in and sometimes it pushes it up. that when the tooth comes threw it will go away. can be painful for him to give him some tylenol and cold things to help numb it. we did exactly what she said and by the next day the cyst was gone and the tooth was coming threw. well hope this helps you.
Not sure, but my son had purple, bruised looking gums before his first teeth came through. I thought that he had banged his mouth, but no it was just the teeth ready to emerge.
I just went through this with my daughter. When the tooth erupts, there will be quite a bit of blood for a few minutes (my daughter was actually drooling blood). Then it was gone (there WAS a little bleeding still the next day, but nothing like when it first happened). It is nothing to worry about!
