We've seen or have tickets to see just about everything currently on Broadway. There are so many great options right now!!!!
So, rather than telling you what I love, I think your best bet is to listen to some of the soundtracks, research some of the stories, and see what calls to you!
You can listen to sirius-Broadway channel, or any of the other on-line sources to become familiar with the songs. After researching some of the musicals, maybe narrow your list to five and get to know some of the songs either through I-tunes or checking out the CDs from your library.
Seriously, Broadway is so magical, and every production has its merits---just depends on what you and your husband want---- serious or silly; fun/feel-good; gorgeous costumes; classic broadway, etc.
Currently some of the main musicals on Broadway are: Book of Mormon; Mowtown: the Musical; Kinky Boots; Annie; Chicago; Mamma Mia; Wicked; Matilda; Newsies; Phantom; Once; Pippin; Spiderman; Jersey Boys and a few "Disney" ones.
There are some others, but these are the most popular, recently nominated and Tony award-winning musicals.
I will add one thing about Pippin---it's an older musical, a great story with wonderful music and is often overshadowed by the powerful, more commonly known musicals.
Have fun looking into your options and planning your trip! Have a wonderful time!
