So I just found out that I have a breast cyst. It has actually been bothering me for a while, but just found out what it is(no health insurance- I had to wait until we had the money). Thank goodness it isn't anything worse. WELL- I can choose to have it drained... or not. It is a bit painful to the touch, and annoying in general. It is currently the size of a walnut. Moms that have had one before, did you get it drained and if not, did it go away another way? Thanks!

The only thing holding me back is the cost of another doc visit, but if I hear enough positive feedback of the draining method, I will probably go back to doc...

Thanks Moms!

What can I do next?

Above is just an example of how LONG I waited until going to the doctor... not having insurance sucks, but I know I'd pay more for insurance each year than I pay for occasional doc visits... I'm terrible, though- gosh, I thought I asked that question in Feb! Time flies... and I know I need to take better care of myself, that is for sure!!!! Certainly not bragging:(

I had one when I was nursing, about the size of a pea (painless though). It went away after 6 months, the OB-GYN said they're very common and caused by hormonal fluctuations.

Hi, M.:

Try a Castor Oil Pack on the breast with a heating pad 2 or 3 times a day.
See if that will help the cyst to reabsorb.
Check a health food store for the Castor Oil that is clear oil.

Good luck.

I had one three years ago. It was discovered on my very first mammogram. I didn't even know I had it even though it was painful--I just assumed that's how my breast was suppose to feel. I chose to have it aspirated as advised by the doctor. I was told that if it burst inside, it could lead to an infection. The aspiration itself is tolerable. They shoot up some kind of dye and then drain out the cyst. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems since then.

Good luck!
