My daughter likes dinner foods for breakfast and they are probably better in the morning. Try adding stuff to her scrambled eggs, meats, veggies or cheese. Or some spices. My daughter’s favorite breakfast is cold pizza.
Hi all.. My 16 mo old daughter seems to not like eggs anymore and hubby and I seem to be having a hard time coming up with alternate breakfast suggestions... what kinds of things do you guys make for breakfasts?
Thanks:)
Wow thanks for all the suggestions everyone! Can't wait to give them a shot with her :) I really appreciate it all

My son, aka the pickiest eater in the world, eats oatmeal or pancakes or dry cereal... and that's it. I make a whole batch of pancakes and freeze them, then reheat them 2 at a time. Oatmeal, he only eats the fruit and cream one's, and dry cereal is REALLY hit or miss. One day he'll like cheerios, then hate them for a month... it's always trial and error!!
pancakes
french toast
sausage or bacon "mc"muffins - you don't need the egg
cereal with an english muffin or toast
fruit salad
oatmeal
grits
cinnamon bread/toast/rolls
cereal and pop tarts
breakfast burrito (cheese refried beans beef or chicken salsa)
does that get you started?
My kids like soup, and other equally non-breakfast things for breakfast.
:)
oatmeal
grits
bagel/toast/english muffin with cream cheese or peanut butter
fruit and yogurt
dry cereal with milk
cheese melted on bread
Muffins - blueberry, cinnamon, banana, pumpkin
bagels and cream cheese
fried potatoes with veggies, sausage and cheese
zucchini bread (or banana)
and the stuff Cheryl O posted
I can't really add to all the other suggestions - those are the things we make too. But maybe try to spice up your eggs a little. Add diced ham, or cheese, or veggies (onion, peppers, mushrooms etc). Like a scrambled omelette. She may like that taste better.
My daughter is luke-warm on scrambled eggs, but she loves fried eggs. Maybe try cooking them different.
Leftovers...homemade chicken pot pie is a favorite around our house.
Fried potatoes made from leftover baked potatoes.
Whole wheat pancakes or waffles with a scoop of protein powder (my secret ingredient, the kids don't know)
French Toast made with whole wheat bread
Cocoa and Toast (luke warm cocoa and toast cut into fingerwidth strips)
Yogurt Smoothies
Cottage Cheese
Malt O Meal made with milk...mashed banana or applesauce added in
Breakfast hot pockets are HUGE in my house, so are the Jimmy Dean's pancake sausages (like corn dogs). As well for breakfast I like to use the just add water pancake mix and frozen berries put in a blender then cook like usual. French Toast is good and I cook a lot of them (whole loaf) then freeze and toast them in the toaster to heat up in the mornings ... add apple butter and syrup and you are good to go! Muffins are a great choice as well ... tons of kinds you can find online.
Anything she likes!
Sandwiches, soup, pasta, leftover dinner? Think outside the breakfast box, just because it's morning doesn't mean it has to be cereal, eggs, etc.
Throw some food coloring in everything you cook. She will love it. Also, cream of wheat with sprinkles, oatmeal, etc.
I make something called egg toast for my kids.
Let them choose a cookie cutter.
Cut the center of a slice of bread.
Throw a tad of butter in a skillet.
Place bread in, crack egg right in center.
Cook until done (add food coloring if you want)
Then place the center that you cut out right on top.
My girls LOVE Malt-O-Meal.
I agree with Mamazita.
I hate eggs, always have and will not eat eggs unless they are cooked in bread, etc.
My mom would make me eat eggs and it was a nightmare because I would throw them up daily. FINALLY the Dr. told her to stop making me eat it... I didn't like it.
I pretty much eat no breakfast foods except for occasional bacon or sausage.
My morning breakfasts include whatever is leftover from dinner the night before, a sandwich, yogurt, fruit, etc.
Some people just arent the traditional breakfast eaters.
They say you should eat dinner for breakfast anyway, more protein and carbs.
There are really great ways to flavor oatmeal. My kids always loved it with peanut butter, it tastes like warm peanutbutter/oatmeal cookies in a bowl. Also I served it with some sliced bananas and maple syrup, or brown sugar and raisins.
Yogurt for breakfast with some wheat toast, she might go for that.
If you were feeding her eggs ALL the time, naturally she's gonna get sick of them. Mine liked them best soft scrambled, I love fluffy scrambled eggs, not the dried out crumbly kind, add a little ketchup to them, she might like them like that.
There were plenty of mornings when my kids were that age that I just tossed a bunch of dry cheerios at them and some sliced fruit. Putting down a variety is key.
I also believe that aroma has a lot to do with getting the appetite going. If you toast some toast in the toaster (say that 3 times in a row!) it makes the whole house smell good and gets everyone's appetite started.
Maybe it's becaue I work overnights but my son gets a lot of pizza for breakfast and "breakfast for supper! Don't get stuck on ONLY having certain foods at certain times of day.
My son's favorite traditional breakfast food is a Dutch baby and sausage-- quick and easy and doesn't make too many dishes to wash!
Ingredients:
3 eggs
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 c sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional, adjust to taste)
1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional, adjust to taste)
a shake of cinnamon (optional, adjust to taste)
1 pinch salt
2-3 tablespoons butter
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). put butter in a 9 inch pie or cake pan, set on the stove wheree the oven will melt the butter
2.Whizz the eggs and milk in the blender. Add the other ingredients, whizz again
3. Swirl pan so melted butter is spread around and the baby won't stick. Pour batter in pan
4.Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees cooking for additional 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
I usually serve with maple syrup, but "traditional" is powdered sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice
I don't think I can add anything to the already GREAT suggestions you have received!!
I LOVE the HOT POCKET breakfasts - they are fast and easy. I can either microwave or toaster oven them.
I love cottage cheese and peaches!!
