since my daughter was born in 01 I have had REALLY bad trouble with shedding and breakage. and now that I've got a short hair cut shorter than I've had in a long time the tips are really rough and they make the back of my neck itchy. what can I do to help this problem? I have always had trouble with shedding but its gotten worse after having 2 kids.

Mine has also but it helps to buy shampoos that help with breakage, keep or hair trimmed at the tips to prevent split ends, and buy leave in condioners. Also try combing your hair gently especially when you have knots instead of using a brush that sometimes breaks ur hair off.

Are you using salon quality hair products? I used to be able to use any shampoo or conditioner but after having 2 babies my hair fell out and the texture has changed alot. Everytime I wash my hair it seems to shed and if I dont spend 20 mins blowdrying my head looks like a fuzzy mop. I have tried several products and I am not a fan of redken products but I love the Back to Basics line. Check Sally's or other beauty supply stores I think I saw it at the salon in Walmart too. I also use a leave in conditioner on the ends of my hair after I get out of the shower to smooth down the fuzz. Try Matrix I love it b/c it doesn't leave my hair looking flat and greasy. You may want to try letting your hair grow out, shorter styles are harder to maintain and style. I notice that my hair is really fuzzy and looks brittle when it's cut too short. You may want to try another Salon or Stylist as well. If the stylist is not using top quality scissors or not getting them sharpened often enough your haircut will not look or feel good. If you are near a SALON 124 make an appointment, they are highly trained and extremely knowledgable about how different cutting techniques work on differnt hair types. They have locations in Snellville (ask for Robin), Roswell, and one in Duluth off of Sugarloaf Pkwy(ask for Tyne or Shelly)I think the website is salon124.com. A cut will cost anywhere from 40 to 60 bucks but it is so worth it.

I am not sure what kind of texture your hair is, but if you have african-american hair, shampoos, conditioners, & oils containing natural herbs work best. I had problems with breakage too, but now my hair is down my back & healthier than ever. Herbs like, avocado, nettle, horsetail, olive oil, jojoba & herbs of that nature work wonders. Also, Garnier Fructis or Pantene Pro-V is wonderful on any hair type. I hope this helps you.

Hi B.,

have you considered having your thyroid levels checked? it's a simple blood test & very often people with thyroid problems have hair loss (my poor best friend even sheds her eyebrows).

check out this site if you want to learn more. Mary Shoman is a patient/advocate for all sorts of thyroid issues.

http://thyroid.about.com/cs/symptomsproblems/a/hairloss.htm

there are lots more sites on about if you want to check if you have other symptoms.

in the meanwhile, try the aussie shampoo/conditioner products the 'moist' line and 3 minute miracle are really good.

best of luck,
~P..

I do NOT condone hitting children, but there is a time and a place for it, in my opinion. I'd "pop" his mouth EVERY time he said the bad words and/or rhyme a word with them and chge the words into something weird or funny that he CAN say instead. Hopes this helps.
