Birthday Party - to Serve Cake or Lunch and Cake?

I'm having my toddler's 3rd birthday party at the Little Gym starting at 10am. The kids play from 10-11 and then its time to eat from 11 - 11:30. Would it be appropriate to just serve cake at this time? or is it to close to lunch and therefore would be better to provide pizza too, even though its a bit early?

What can I do next?

I would serve lunch, I think it's okay to just serve cake if the party is after lunch. When it's right around lunchtime, it would be hard to get a kid to eat something healthy after they fill up on cake.

If it were me I would serve lunch. A lot of kids eat lunch at 11:30 or 12. I always serve lunch and snacks at my kids' birthday parties. Hope this helps!

To avoid upsetting the other mom's, I would definately offer pizza before the cake. If cake/icecream is served at 11:30am with no lunch I doubt that any mom will be able to get her kid to go home and eat lunch. KWIM?

i would provide lunch also...but try to keep it simple...pizza is fine...or you could simply make little sandwiches...they are little kids so the usual favorites apply--pb &j and ham & cheese...cut them into little squares or triangles...maybe even whack off the crusts...serve a bowl of grapes with it and tada you have made a super affordable quick lunch and then it's on to what everyone really loves...cake! Good Luck!

I would serve lunch. Like another poster said, if it's really an issue to serve lunch, you should state on the invite that you will be having cake and punch so people know to plan ahead.

I think either way is fine. You can include on the invitations whether it will be cake and punch or pizza, cake and punch so the parents know what to expect and how to plan their day. A mother was just recently telling me about her twins birthday party at the Little Gym. She said it was wonderful. She just served cake and they provided the drinks.

I myself would just have some sandwiches cut into quarters, a plate of fruit and maybe some pretzels and goldfish. Pizza can be a little rough on your stomach and if you combine it with cake right after the kids have been very active it might not set well. Also, if you bring your own treats you won't be at the mercy of pizza delivery.

Hi Well I would say just because of the time you need to have pizza also but I am guessing it would not have to be a lot I am sure the kids would be fine with just cake but I am guessing most mom's would want the kids to at least eat a piece of pizza first. Have a great day
