Call me crazy but I want to get a mini wedding cake style tier cake for my daughters 1st b-day. Basically I want a mini tier cake for her that is all decorated beautifully to "dive" into and then I will have sheet cake for my guests....any suggestions on where I can get such a small cake done? I went to a few places near my home and haven't had any luck...they have pushed to try to do the cake for all my guests and charge me 100 bucks....if anyone could recommend someone that would be GREAT! Oh, and I am in the Waterford area so the closer the better!
You can do your own. This is what we did for my bridal shower, everyone had their own cake. We used a 4" or 6" cake pan and had cupcakes put on top.
The Home Bakery in Rochester can do whatever you want.
I did a 3 tier cake and the top layer was my daughters to eat, and the rest for family.

My friend got her wedding cake at Costco and it was really good and inexpensive. You might ask them if they can make just the top portion- or maybe a small cake would be priced reasonably anyway so all your guest could enjoy it. It's a very cute idea and will make great photo's. Have fun...

I used to live in the Waterford area as well. Have you tried Klever Creations (I think that's how they spell it) on Dixie Highway in Waterford? I took their cake decorating classes, and made a tier style mini cake myself for my son's first birthday. They had all of the mini pans to bake my cakes with and filled all my decorating needs as well. I know that they do special orders and make cakes as well. I don't remember them being very pricey. It is worth checking in to.
If you don't want to make the mini tier, I would just buy your sheet cake from Sam's or Costco, and then buy your mini tier from Klever Creations.
Another place to try is Truffles, on Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake. Though I think they might be a little more expensive. Certainly worth a phone call!
