Best Places to Live near Fort Worth

We've lived in Aledo for 3 yearts and really love it. They have the best school district in this area and you can live in Willow Park and still be in AISD. It's a small town but lots going on. I know a lot of people like living north of Fort Worth, like the Keller area, but every time I've gone up there the traffic has been so heavy all the way. Out here you get clear from traffic pretty quickly. Depending on how far south you live in Aledo the commute to downtown Fort Worth is 20-35 minutes. I have a friend who lives in Willow Park, close to the interstate and her commute is a full 15 min less than mine b/c I live a good bit farther south. Good luck!

My husband grew up in Weatherford. I love to visit there....although I can hardly believe how much it's grown in 10 years!

We are in Mansfield schools and they are great. Close to the lakes etc so fun for kids too.

Keller and Haslet are nice, and have good schools.

Sorry, but even if you live in Ft. Worth proper, you're still going to have a 20-30 minute commute. There's just that much traffic. Mansfield might be one of your best options. It has one of the best school districts in the area (my daughter started kindergarten this past year). I teach in neighboring Arlington but hope to get hired in two years when they open another high school. It is one of the few districts that has not had the financial problems the rest of the state has. It is about 30 min. from downtown FW with no traffic. It's small town feel with good perks (parks, shopping, etc.)

Southlake (exemplary school district), Keller, Grapevine, Colleyville. They are all great school districts. Aside from living in Fort Worth, you are going to have a 25-35 minute commute really. I think the 30 minute commute is worth the wonderful schools, parks, shopping, restaurants, etc.

If you don't want the hassle of all that traffic in the North FTW or Keller area becuz it is pretty bad from there to downtown, check out Crowley and/or Burleson. I live in Crowley and work downtown and its 25-30 min drive DURING rush-hour. And 20 mins w/out! So traffic isn't to bad. Its better in the morning that at 5pm but still not 50 mins like to N.FTW. Crowley schools are Ok, but I think Burleson are a little better. Crowley still has that VERY small town feel, while Burleson is bigger but still small town feeling also. Its worth checking out!

Mansfield is an easy commute with an excellent school district.

Keller, Roanoke, Trophy Club, Southlake

I grew up in the Saginaw area and I agree - great schools and great place to live, and my husband and I lived in the Keller area. Again, great schools and great place to llive. But, you said that you wanted a smaller community and no 30 - 40 minute commute. I don't see that as possible in any of the areas mentioned due to traffic, especially if he works "normal" commuting hours. Traffic is rough going into downtown. We lived 12 miles from my job just west of downtown and it took me a good 20 - 30 minutes to get there in the morning and easily 45 minutes to get home (and this was several years ago). I don't want to discourage you - Fort Worth is an amazing place to live, I'm just trying to be realistic. . . . I will say, traffic doesn't seem to be nearly as bad coming from the Mansfield area so that might be your best bet. I don't know much about their schools but it's a great area! And if your husband works "off" hours it could be that traffic won't even be an issue! Good luck!

Aledo! We live in colleyville school district right now but my husband also works in Fort Worth. We can't wait to move out west of Fort Worth to truly get into a smaller community. We have been looking at home in Willow Park which is immediately off I-20 and Aledo ISD. That's only a 20 minute commute to downtown Fort Worth! I would research traffic flow at different times of day depending on your husbands time of commute. There's a LOT of traffic from some communities.

I agree, Keller, Haslet, Heritage Trace.. all great areas, good schools and good location to downtown Ft Worth.

Kellar, Crowley, and Aledo all seem to fall within where you are looking. Kellar traffic is no fun though. Aledo schools are great and the entire town rallies around the school's teams.The town basically shuts down Friday nights during football season.

Keller is awesome, wasn't it like 7th best town in the country to live in last year? (Forbes magazine). The school district is award winning. We own a house in the Heritage communities (right off Heritage Trace, VERY close to 35W so downtown is like a 15 minute drive if NOT rush hour....but you're gonna have a solid 30-50 minutes if it's rush hour, just because....it's downtown). Love the community---check out heritagelife.com to check it out. We could walk to the spray park, playground, pond, elementary school, and highschool from our house. About 1 mile away was the awesome pool complex with 6 pools (slides, in-water playground, lagoon pool with a waterfall and nice landscaping--my favorite, more secluded, a lap pool where the parties with a square of deep water and another of shallow water where the community swim team does their thing, a resort pool, 2 waterslides, a covered baby pool), and the normal things like playgrounds, tennis courts, a nearby indoor soccer, and the community does some really neat activities on a regular basis (very active HOA, but really very cheap HOA dues for everything you get!) I have friends in other areas nearby who pay a little more in dues for much less. And we loved that when it was NOT rush hour, it was no big deal to go down northside to the stockyards, or take a day trip downtown to play at the square, get ice cream, have a picnic and explore the water gardens, check out the free art places downtown, take the kids to Casa Manana to catch a show or if it was just the adults we'd go to the Jubilee for an adult show. And from our house, it's a 30 minute drive to the zoo, the museum and arts district, etc. I'd suggest you checking it out.

Keller and Roanoke are wonderful areas. We live just outside of Roanoke in the Chadwick Farms community (AMAZING community BTW). Our rush hour commutes are usually 30-40 minutes. The great thing about these areas up north is how much house you get for your $! Plus, it wouldn't be a far move for you from Denton.

Saginaw is building 3 new schools and they are zoned by neighborhoods.

KELLER!!! We love living here! You are close to everything but far enough from Fort Worth and Dallas. And we were named the 7th Greatest Place to Live! My daughter is finishing Kindergarten in the Keller ISD and we have been so happy with the teachers and administrators. The only downside is that is probably will take your husband about 30 minutes in morning traffic to get to Fort Worth. But in my opinion it is worth it!

We live in the North Fort Worth- Saginaw area. The Eagle Mountain Saginaw School District is great and the taxes are a lot lower than Keller.
