Barbeque Pork Sandwich

Made my first Pulled pork sandwiches last night. Let is cook in the crock pot all day while I was at work. Now while I thought it had a nice spicey taste to it I'd like to get advice on how to improve it? I used Pork shoulder that had a barbeque rub already on it. I added some jarred sauce as it was cooking.

Thoughts? Should I use the same cut of meat? Do I need to marinade it in advance? Also, what sauce do you recommend? Jus trying to branch out as I've been in a rut lately making the same things. Last night was a bit different. Thanks

What can I do next?

Use a Boston Pork Butt- go ahead and giggle, but it shreds really well. I do mine on 200 in the oven for an entire day and it's amazing! NO JAR SAUCE with spicing it up! Add brown sugar, ketchup and 1/2 a can of coke. It will make it sweet and tangy.

In the oven, you let it cook all day in a water bath and add the sauce after shredding for the last hour. Google some recipes!

Well, mostly I do this with a beef chuck roast, but I'm sure you do it with pork as well. I mix about 1/2 to 1 cup of apricot preserves with my BBQ sauce and it's really good!

I like to do a giant beef tip or roast on a bed of vegetables, just seasoned with tons of garlic, salt, and pepper. That night, I will cut some of the roast off and serve with the vegetables and make a gravy out of the juices. Then I take the rest and shred it with forks, season it with more garlic, salt and pepper and cayenne, mix a spicy honey bbq sauce in and back in the crockpot to heat through for bbq sandwhiches. That way, I get two great dinners out of it.
