I swear by Boudreax's Butt Paste. I used it on my son and we used at a personal care facility I used to work for and it works miracles!!!
My 10 month gets such bad diaper rash, some times it blisters and bleeds, does anyone know what i can do to help this for her comfort. I use the A&D and that seems to not hurt her when I put it on her but more of the white diaper rash stuff seems to hurt her.

My son breaks out easily and I have been using an ointment called triple paste. It is rather expensive and I can only find it at drug stores (Walgreen's) but it is very effective.
could she be allergic to diapers. When my aunt was a baby she had to wear cloth diapers. My little girl had diaper rash bt it never blistered or bled. that sounds like an allergy to me.
CALMOSEPTINE & REGULAR MYLANTA, my son while he was teething had bad diarrhea and i tried everything under the sun but nothing worked. His dr. told me to get some regular mylanta and dap it onto some tissue, and blot it on his bottom to sooth the pain and then but the calmoseptine on it to make the sores go away. You can get it from some of your older pharmacies not like ekard, walgreens, or CVS. It helps with bed sores and things of that nature try a home health supplier or try the other place i listed but it is behind the counter not OTC hope everything works out and let me know
My youngest had bad rashes like that. First you should pay attention to what she has had to eat or drink that might trigger it, and try not to give her as much of whatever it is. (Usually something acidic, like tomatoes or some juices). As for treating it, I find that vaseline works better than anything. The medicated stuff can burn. My son still screamed when I put the vaseline on, because it was just such a sensitive area, but I really think it works faster than any of that other stuff. Also, when you are changing the diaper when she has the rashes, use plain, wet paper towels. The alcohol in the wipes really hurts the raw skin, and wet paper towels are much gentler.
Just a thought - my niece was in the same situation. The dr. told my sister that you can put neosporin on it when it opens to soothe that part and use a cream called Buttpaste on top of it. Buttpaste is available at Target stores. It is usually in the diaper aisle on one of the top shelves. It is hypo-allergenic and much thicker than most other diaper rash ointments to provide a thick layer of protection. We continue to use it on my niece everytime her diaper area gets even a little red, to prevent further inflammation. Hope this helped.
I thought my grandmother was nuts when she told me this but this is the best stuff! Corn Starch! Who would have thought. This is my third child and I wish I knew this for my other two. Just put it on just like you would baby powder. By the way, dont ever use this stuff. It has too many perfumes in it. If Corn Starch doesnt help, then it may be yeast. Which I always used Monistat for that. The corn starch works overnight!
I have always used regular corn starch on my kids. It works wonders on a rash like that. Both of my older children used to get them really bad, like you are describing, bleeding and really raw. Just sprinkle a little corn starch on it and it should be gone in no time. Hope this helps!
Believe it or not....my mom used to use lard when we would do that. Also try cornstarch (its in the same isle as flour), it soaks up the extra moisture, my oldest had this problem a few times and it seemed to work. Hope this helps
Let her air out as much as possible.
Baking soda baths.
No store bought wipes. Use soft, wet, warm washcloths.
Triple Paste Ointment @ CVS or Eckerd.
My girls use to get bad diaper rash at times too. Their doctor wrote a prescription for Silvedene. It's used for burns, but works well for really bad diaper rash. You would use it along with other diaper ointment. The Butt Paste does work pretty well too. Good-luck!
Aquaphor ointment works GREAT!!!! It will start to heal a rash in less than a day.
Boudreaux Butt Paste!! It works miracles! But if you can't get the rash to go away you can take her to the pediatrician and they can give you an antiobotic cream to put on her. I hope it get's better!
My daughter got a bad rash once and when we were at the DR's they told us to use "BUTT PASTE" Yes that it what it is called and it worked right away...we put it on her now every night and she hasn't ever had one again. I mean it worked right away. They sell it at WalMart, Target, and the drug stores....I'm telling you it works AWESOME and you will see results after you use it the first time!!! Hope this helps!
A&D is great for soothing, however it traps moisture next to the skin and for bad diaper rash that is the worst thing you can do. I recommend the regular desitin (not the creamy kind), just rub it really good in your palm to make it easier to apply and use it. That is what worked the best for us, and I have a friend here and that is what they used, generally within hours it is better and within the day it is gone. It might burn at first, but it does clear it up so there is not continued pain with the diaper rash itself.
A&D ointment is the best-apply some at every diaper change. It will create a barrier against the wetness, and help prevent the rash from getting so bad. Also, put some baking soda in a bowl of warm water, and use a rag to apply the baking soda mixture to her skin. My daughter had a similar problem, and this seemed to help her quite a bit. Hope this helps!
My son had that when he was about 4-6 weeks old because of a milk allergy and reflux. We had to get a prescription from the doctor. It was great and cleared it up really well. I still keep the leftover ointment around, just in case.

I see you have a lot of good advice with the different treatments, ointments and pastes; but consider changing to a different brand of diaper (I'm assuming you use disposables.) I worked in a Mom's Day Out program for a while and there was a little girl that had a terrible diaper rash with blisters, and she actually was allergic to something in that particular brand of diaper; changing brands solved the problem.
Best Wishes!
Our doctor had to write a prescription for Cameron with his bad diaper rashes last summer, He wrote it for Greers Goo, I put it on his little bottom, and within 24 hours the rash was gone. This stuff really works.

I agree w/ the Butt Paste advice; also try Aquafor for the general dryness. This is made by the company that makes Eucerin (sp) cream. It's really thick - it's found on the lotion isle at any drug store.
Good luck!
Flander's is good. I found it at Eckerd, but it was behind the pharmacy counter, so I had to ask for it. It's over the counter.
Also, my son when he was a newborn would get bad rashes after bm's, and I found that putting vaseline on him helped. It provided a barrier, so his skin wasn't damaged.
WHEN MY 15 YEAR OLD WAS A BABY SHE GOT A YEAST INFECTION. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD DIPPER RASH AND TRIED EVERYTHING! MY INLAWS THOUGHT I WASN'T CHANGING HER ENOUGH BUT IT TURNED OUT THAT BABY GIRLS CAN GET YEAST INFECTIONS. ALL SHE NEEDED WAS VAGISIL CREAM AND IT WAS GONE THE NEXT DAY.
THERES ALSO SOME REAL GOOD CREAM THAT YOU CAN GET FROM THE PHARMASIST... ITS THE RASH OINTMENT IN THE WHITE JAR AND HAS BLUE AND RED WRITING ON IT(DONT KNOW THE NAME I ALWAYS ASK FOR IT LIKE THAT) ITS A BROWN CREAM A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY.
HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU.
My daughter would get them when she was little. They were so bad that when we would wipe her off - her skin would litterly come off on the wipe. The only thing that worked for us, we changed her every hour - even if she was dry and let her run around "oh natural" when it was possible.
Hi, my oldest child would get a bad rash too. We used a product called REZINOL. It comes in a small jar at a pharmacy(over the counter). It is made from calamine lotion and zinc oxide. It works wonders. I hope this helps.
Boudreaux's Butt Paste http://www.buttpaste.com/ i know it sounds funny but i SWEAR it works great. my son is almost 2..he recently stopped nursing and for a while he was REALLY eating alot of fruit and yogurt....his poor little but got so raw from the acid in the fruit and no solids.....desitin creamy seemed to hurt him..a friend recomended the butt paste and it worked great...compare the ingredients...good luck!!
I had the same thing happen to my little one. Believe it or not, my faher in law gave me advice that worked. First he told me to give her bath with a couple of table spoons of baking soda. Then I let her run around a little while without a diaper on.(You may have a couple messes but it allows the area to air out) Then he told me to put pure cornstarch on the area. Not the mixture diaper powder, the pure cornstarch one. It worked wonderfully! To this day, that's the only thing I use because it's the only thing that really works! I hope I was helpful, good luck!
If your baby is in a large tub use about 1/4 cup of baking soda and in an infant/toddler tub use 3 tablespoons of baking soda when you bathe her. This neutralizes the acid in the urine. Try not to give her acidic juice and foods for a bit to see if that helps to clear it up. Change her diaper often. Keep the A&D up or try Bordeaux's <<spelling? Butt Paste
I have used just plain cornstarch when my 2yr.old gets that way and when appling the diaper rash cream try using a cottonswab (cuetip)or a rubber glove because sometimes the oils and stuff on your finger will make it burn too.
Yes yes!! Boudreaux's Butt Paste!! Jennifer L mentioned that her niece's pediatrician suggested it. Her niece is my daughter! I can not stress the benefits of Butt Paste enough! I just recently went to Target and bought it in a 16-oz jar because we go through it so quickly. My daughter is prone to redness, and if we use the Butt Paste when she gets even a little red, it prevents any more redness and clears it up right away.
Hey, when my son got a really bad rash, we ask the Dr. what to do for it because everything we put on it he would scream. She gave us a sample of Dr. Smith's diaper cream. You usually have to go and get it from the pharmacy's. However, Eckerds is the only place I have found that you can go and get it off the shelf. That stuff works great and she said that it was the only thing that did not burn them. She was right that stuff worked great and would clear him up over night. It's usually in a little round jar. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!
HEY A., CALL YOUR PED. TELL THEM THAT YOU WANT SOME SILVADENE(NOT SURE IF THAT THE CORRECT SPELLING BUT THAT IS THE CORRECT SAYING)IT IS NORMALLY USED FOR BURNS!!!!!!!!!! PUT YOUR CHILD IN A TUB OF WATER WITH EITHER 1/2 C VINAGAR (WHITE) OR BAKING SODA (NOT BOTH) AND AFTER BATH TIME LET THE BABY LAY ON A TOWEL IN THE FLOOR FOR A LITTLE WHILE WITHOUT A DIAPER OR ANYTHING ON FOR ABOUT 15 TO 30 MINS. THEN PUT THE SILVADENE ON PRETTY THICK AND USE VASOLINE OR DESITIN OR BALMEX OR WHATEVER YOU'VE GOT THAT WILL KEEP IT FROM WASHING OFF SO QUICKLY AND YOU'LL FIND THAT BY MORNING THAT IT SHOULD LOOK MUCH BETTER. REPEAT THE SILVADENE AND VASOLINE AND DO NOT USE WIPES AS OFTEN AS YOU'D LIKE UNTIL IT CLEARS UP AND IT USUALLY DOESN'T TAKE THAT LONG!GOOD LUCK!!T.
How long does it last and is it in the creases of her legs? It could not be a diaper rash and be a yeast infection and the doctor might recommend something over the counter for that or give u a script of Nystantin. My 2 older girls when they were babies use to get yeast infections all the time.. The doctor said that they just produced alot of yeast.. also if it is a diaper rash, let her go naked for a couple min. off and on throughout the day, like diaper changing times, let her get some air and instead of using a wipe, use water, sometimes sitting them in the bathtub helps relieve the pain, but dry blot dry her bottom off when done, u do want to keep her dry down there as much as possible and just in case it is a yeast infection avoid powder or cornstarch, b/c it could make it alot worse. good luck
I have twins who got diaper rash really bad.......a friend told me to use Bag Balm.....it is used for cow utters after milking........but I used on my boys and their rash cleared up practically overnight. It is around $6 at Walmart. It worked for me!
Hi A.,
My son just got over a horrible bought of daiper rash. he had the same thing, open bleeding sores and screamed for 15-20 minutes after his diaper was changed. I ended up actually taking him to the dermatologist it was so bad. She told me NOT to use neosporian on the open sores that it could cause a worse infection. She gave me a perscription for a steriod cream and then just told me to use Desitin (the reuglar kind). Air her out as much as possible. She also had me make my own wipes out of the Cephatil soap. Use white paper towels cut into fourths. Place soap and water in the bottom of a wipe container and let it sit overnight with the paper towels in it. The regualr wipes hurt the sore too much.
Hope this helps. After about 3 days on the steroid he cleared up. NOw I jsut keep a VERY THICK layer of Desitin on him at all times. I should buy stock in that comapany!
