I would go to Sheplers Western Wear as well. I was there in June with my sister and they have a whole section of baby/children clothes to choose from.
My daughter's first birthday party is cowgirl themed. I am having trouble finding an outfit that is really cute " cowgirl". Any ideas or suggestions where I can go? It is in a month. Thanks!
Thank you again for all your suggestions, we ended up at old navy with a denim jumper and a red and white checkered shirt. I had a hard time finding boots but eventually ended up at cavenders. She had a hard time standing in them so we went with pretty red painted toe nails. I bought cowboy hats from oriental trading company and found stick horses for all the invites at the dollar store. I was amazed about the stick horses!( What a find!) I made cookies in western shapes and bagged them up to take home! We had a hay treasure hunt. It was a rootin' tootin' great time. Thank you everybody for your ideas and suggestions. I have some great pics if you want to see them e-mail me . :)

I'm not sure if you have ever seen a pillowcase dress -- but I make them for my daughter, she's almost 3 and it it super cute and girly. Micheal Miller has TONS of cute western fabric and I could trim it in leather looking fringe with some boots and that would be super cute. Email me if you are interested and I'll send you a picture of a dress and email you the fabric pieces -- it's hard to find cute one of kind things in stores.

Cavendars in Westgate mall!
Hi J., my name is C. and I have a five month old boy named Jack. I'm from Austin too. Have you tried ebay or costumecraze.com ? I'm not sure there are any stores specific to costumes unless it's around halloween. Hope this helps some.

Well, I don't know where you would be able to find a western outfit but... I was just at williams sonoma at barton creek and I noticed that the had a western themed ice cream sandwhich cut outs that were on clearance (not sure of the price, sorry). That would be really cute to make for the party. Good luck & have fun!
Try these outfits made from bandanas. My daughter's first birthday was the same theme. I didn't want to dress her up in a costume but this outfit was perfect. It's nice and cool, comfy, and looks really cute w/ the theme!! Plus she still wears the pants and she is 3 years old!!! (they are shorts instead of pants now)
My daughter had a western first birthday!
We used a denim skirt from old navy and a pink "1" t-shirt from the party store. We were able to find pink cowgirl boots and pink straw hat from Allen's Western Wear in Round Rock.
Yee Haw!
hey there J.,
i'm not sure what your budget is or how nice you would like this outfit to be...i do know of this amazing woman that makes increadible clothes for kids and adults. check out ramonsterwear.com the clothes are wonderful!!!
There is a cowgirl themed line at gymboree right now, even have a pink cowgirl hat. I would try online.
Asking around is a great idea. If you want a costume, the party stores have them all year round. If you want an actual outfit, check out Shepler's or Callahan"s.
I am not a big Wal Mart person, but they always seem to have cowboy boots for children. If you do not find them in Austin, go to the Wal Mart in a small town like Lockhart or Bastrop. After my daughter grew out of her boots, I nailed each of them onto a piece of painted wood and then filled them with plaster. She still uses them as bookends.
Sometimes you would be amazed at what you can find a the Goodwill's around town. I needed cowboy hats and vests for my child and we went out to The Goodwill in Cedar Park and found tons. With gas so expensive you may want to call ahead and ask.
Remember a denim skirt, with a white blouse, and a vest looks like a cowgirl. Also denim overalls with a bandanna in a pocket looks good and can be worn anytime.
Remember to purchase pinata. The kids love them and they look very festive. Take tons of photos, cause she will not remember any of it, but will love looking at the photos.
Gymboree just got in a new 'pony' line. With pink cowgirl hats and boots! It is really cute!
