At What Age Did Your Kiddos Start Losing Teeth?

My now 5YO daughter has got a pretty shaky top-front tooth. Geez, I don't think I am ready yet for the 'tooth fairy'! LOL
Seriously, is 5 too young? Which teeth typically go first?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all the answers...Enjoyed reading each one of them!
I guess I can stop stressing that she is only 5YO (just turned 5 in October) and already going thru this phase.
Thanks again to all of you!

My daughter was early 4 yrs old. By the time she was 10, she had lost every tooth she was supposed to and had her 12 yr molars.

She was the only kid in preschool who had lost teeth naturally and had tooth fairy visits.

She is almost 17, has a perfect set of pearly whites, no orthodontics needed but her teeth are so straight and white people think she had orthodontics!

I STRONGLY suggest getting the sealants on the permanent teeth when needed. our insurance covered them but even if insurance does not cover it... SO WORTH IT.

My daughter lost her first four teeth at four years old. She started getting them at three to four months old and the dentist said it was normal to lose them early. She is five now and has already lost her front two teeth. I noticed that the first ones to come out were the first ones in. But after she got her first two teeth in they would come in two or four at a time, she had all her teeth (except the molars) by seven months old.

My son started loosing his at the end of Kindergarten when he was nearly 6, but most of the kids in his class had lost some teeth already. So I say typically 5 years old. Most kids loose the bottom front first then the top front.

She's at about normal age for the process to begin. They fall out in the same order they came in, at least that's what the dentist told me. He was right on with my boys.

Z was four when he lost his first tooth. Followed closely by 3 more (top & bottom front teeth). The dentist said he was a little early, but not unheard of. His bottom two teeth are nearly done coming in (they're about 2/3 of the way out) but his top two haven't come in AT ALL. Dentist said that we'd look more closely at the x-rays next visit if they still haven't made an appearance (he'll be nearly 6 by then).
I was a little shocked too, but 5 doesn't seem all that early to me anymore! ;)

My daughter just lost her first tooth a few weeks ago and she'll be 7 in March. There's a very wide range of normal. In my observations, front bottom teeth go first.

My daughter lost her first tooth at four and a half; my son was nearly seven. It very much depends on the kid. They typically lose them in the same order they got them - bottom front center, top front center, then the next two on the bottom, then the next two on the top, and so on. My son is losing his very slowly, while my daughter's baby teeth left the same way they came in - in pairs, in fairly quick succession - she was missing her top and bottom center teeth all at the same time.

I got you beat. My second oldest lost her first tooth 2 months BEFORE she turned 5! she lost her second one the week of her 5th birthday.

Her teeth did come in fairly early (she was 5 months old), so I thought there may be a connection with that- the earlier they come in the earlier they lose them?

My oldest lost 5 teeth before her 6th birthday.

My granddaughter didn't lose her first tooth until she was almost 8! She's nine now and has only lost about 4 - 5. It runs in our family - my daugther had to have some baby teeth pulled when she was in her 20's! We don't have healthy teeth, but we have stubborn ones!

My daughter lost two in Kindergarten last year. She is has currently lost 2 more this year and about to lose another.

My niece, 4 months older than my daughter has not lost one yet and can't stand it that everyone around her has. Poor thing.
