I actually do not enjoy this time of year regarding Valentine's Day. We just got past Christmas (and I struggled a bit finding something for my husband for Christmas this year), and 6 weeks later: Valentine's! And for me, 3 days after that is husband's BIRTHDAY! Augh! I have NO idea what to do for him for either---I used up my few ideas at Christmas.
I feel such pressure to "make it good" too. :/ That whole love languages things--I don't need the book, to tell me that one of my husband's languages is receiving gifts. (Weird childhood that was less than optimal, and celebrating gifts on "important" days is a biggie for him as an adult). So... hmmm No pressure to come up with the perfect gift every time there! (sarcasm).
Urg. Any ideas anyone? He loves to read and I bought him a ton of books at Christmas. He loves music and is particular about what he listens to and I bought him several CDs at Christmas ( from his 'approved' list, lol). He is not a big handy-man-do-it-yourself-er, so tools and such fail the gift-test. I did give him a pressure washer like he had been wanting for Christmas (he actually told me, "if you are still trying to come up with ideas a pressure washer would be good"). He is into health/fitness, and has pretty much everything he wants/would use already (90 lb dumbbells, PowerTec unit in the garage, Total gym in the bedroom, Perfect Pushups, Gary Fisher bike, etc) and he's also a runner (3-5 miles a couple times per week). The only thing I am thinking right now is maybe a pair of inline skates?
We bought some for the kids at Christmas and they love them, and and my son's pair (he's 13) are in an adjustable size, and his foot is almost as big as my husbands, so hubby tried them on and used them once or twice. Liked them. A decent pair is going to run $75 or so.
Should I spring for a pair?
Then what about the other gift (one for Vday one for birthday). ?
Anybody think that would be a hit?
Oh... and hubby will be buying SOMETHING for me. Sometimes it is small, like a book and chocolate (love that)... but I never know with him. He also will get cards and small chocolate heart boxes for the kids. :)
