I am 14 weeks pregnant and I have like something in my brain that is shutting off wanting to eat. I was given Lophran doesn't help and Reglan that didn't seem to help either. Also when I eat the back of my tongue has like a sour spot that doesn't seem to help with anything either. I try to brush it but it doesn't seem to go away plus i gag and then that makes my stomach hurt. I have tried chewing gum for the tongue but I really would like to not feel nauseas anymore. Anything work for anyone? I will be glad to take any suggestions. Thanks

What can I do next?

Zofran helped me. It didn't make it go away, but it alleviated the severity so that I could eat and not be hospitalized.

Also, sucking on lemon drops might help a little bit. Or munching on stuff pretty much all the time. Avoid anything with caffeine, I was really sensitive to it. Even eating chocolate made my nausea worse. I swear I could TASTE caffeine.

Mine never went completely away until I delivered. Some things just require patience and dealing with it the best you can, unfortunately. At delivery, I was good as new. :)

I feel for you! I have been there 2x and that is why I'm not in a rush for a thrid one. I thow up the whole time from about 5 weeks until and/or after the delivery room. But, a few things do help:

Phenegrin works, but it gave me and the nurse both restless legs, so give it a try and see what happens. The doc can help you with that one, its a prescription.
Sea Bands, these are braclets that push the pressure points on your wrists. they helped a little bit.
Compazine...this made me suicidal, but it worked really well for the sick feeling. I had an odd adverse reaction, not normal.

The BEST one I found was ginger. My husband would cut it up into little slivers and then give it to me to take like a pill. I could do it sometimes, or others he would fill an empty gel capsule with the pieces and then I could take it. The pops, dried, candied, etc. didn't work, only the freshly cut from the root worked.

There is also a pressure point between the thumb and first finger that will help stop pain, anxiety, and nasuea. Also, acupuncture can work pretty well.
Remember, most people get over the morning sickness after the first trimester, but since you've already made it to that point, just hope that it goes away soon. Some people say to always be snacking so that you are never empty, but that didn't work for me. Also, if you find a particular food or food group that makes you sick, I recommend avoiding that. For me it changed all the time. Good luck, remember there is a time limit on how long you will feel sick!

I didn't have nausea when pregnant, but I do get seasick. I found ginger gum at CVS - it's expensive - $6 for 20 pieces - BUT it helped me not get seasick on a recent trip. See if it works for you. The ginger flavor has a bit of a spice to it, but that may help with the sour spot. Good luck!

Foods that can help reduce nausea:

mint (in a mint or a tea or aroma therapy)
wheat
licorice/anisette (in a nugget, tea, or aroma therapy)
ginger (but be careful with ginger, don't have too much)
potatoes, not fried
rice, not fried
bread
semolina pasta, sans acidic sauces

Complex carbohydrates in general are really good for calming nausea, and they're very good for you during pregnancy.

Avoid high fat and fried foods. Those can make nausea worse. So can acidic foods.

God help you! I was just reminiscing about my pregnancy sickness days. URghhh. There was almost nothing that could be done. After the first 16 week I think I took Maxolon.

I tried everything, except acupuncture. Maybe give it a go?

I had horrible nausea...felt flu like and totally gagging and throwing up daily.

Starlight mints were the only thing that smoothed my gag reflex (these are the red and white peppermints that you get in restaurants - available in the candy aisle in grocery stores)

It doesn't take away the nausea, but it does help. I had one in my mouth the entire 1st trimester. Thank heavens my teeth didn't rot!

Different things work for different people, but here are my tricks for you:
- Drinking water with lemon, smelling cut lemons
- Leave crackers or dry toast on your night stand, eat them before you even sit up in bed in the morning
-Eat something small almost constantly- even an oyster cracker or small pretzel every ten minutes or so can help
-Sparkling water (especially with lemon) really helped me with the "metallic" taste that I always had in my mouth
-Smelling peppermint oil
- Anything with protein that you can manage- Ice cream, milkshake, chocolate milk, anything that doesn't make you want to vomit at the thought, try it.

I had morning sickness for 16 weeks with #1 and 22 weeks with #2, so there is hope that it won't last the whole pregnancy :)

Emetrol works. It is a high glucose syrup that you can find at a pharmacy. Ask your Dr. first.

Also, I drank ginger ale every morning. The nausea usually hit me around 9 or 10 in the am. At the time I knew what time and would SIP a ginger ale for an hour or so before it got bad. I learned not to let myself get nauseous. I mean, I couldn't wait until it hit to do something because then I would feel so yucky that nothing sounded good and then it just went from bad to worse, if that makes sense.

Ginseng tea with honey worked for me when I was pregnant.
Later, I discovered peppermint and jasmine teas with honey work also.

I had horrid morning sickness. The only point in my pregnancy that I didn't throw up at least once a day was for one week during my second trimester... I was sooo glad to be over my morning sickness, only for it to come back in full force...

I started buying bags of mint leaves (in the produce department...) and tucking them into my cheek. It helped quite a bit! Sometimes I would chew on them. Once the chewed-up texture started bugging me, I would spit it out. I tried buying pure peppermint oil, and putting a drop on my tongue... but it was too strong. (although, it was good mixed into tea, and that helped too as long as I only drank about 1/4 cup!)

For me, I couldn't have a full stomach. I spent my entire pregnancy snacking. If I ate more than a cup or so worth's of food, it would come straight back up.

BTW... (possibly tmi here...) but don't eat rice chex. I figured, that it would be the most gentle thing I could possibly eat to fill me up... Ooooh, no. It just turned out to be the most horrible thing I have ever thrown up. :/
