So What Happened?

I also had a surgery a year and a half ago. I still cough all night and get lots of sinus infections. I hear wonderful things about the Neti pots but was told that I should be careful using them with polops. Don't remember why. I take Singulair to help with my asthma and the shrinking of the polops. It is very expensive and wonder if that's what others were told to use.

I had surgery a few years ago and I felt better as soon as I woke up. I had chronic sinus infections and sinus pain for years before I had the surgery. I went to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist for the surgery and was very impressed. Since then I have had some polyps return but not like before. I use the NeilMed sinus rinse squeeze bottle which works better for me than a neti pot since you can exert a little force when you have blockage. I try to stay away from a lot of medication but have found some homeopathic remedies to help with my allergies, which cuts down on the irritation with the polyps. Polyps are a bummer! I have had an impaired sense of smell because of them (which is nice when changing diapers)!
Good luck!

I was told I have nasal polyps but they just told me to take Flonaze which I did for awhile but not sure if they shrunk or not. I have sinus issues quite a bit and was told I have a sinus polyp years ago but they said they don't do anything for them. Good luck!

I have had polyps on several occasions, and had them surgically removed once. They can and will grow back if the cause is not removed or reduced. In my case the cause was working in a woodshop with lots of dust in the air, using too much spray decongestant for chronic allergies, and the allergies themselves.

I still occasionally develop a polyp or two, but they shrink away without surgical intervention when I do use a neti pot regularly (can't imagine why that might be a problem!). Early summer is my worst time for hay fever, so I use just a bit of cortisone nasal spray on an as-needed basis. I haven't had a bad flare-up of polyps for many years now.

My husband did and he had surgery in October, it was a waste of time and money and didn't help him at all with his breathing and sinuses.

I did I had sinus surgery what a pain and it didnt help at all!
another doctor suggested I cut back on dairy and remove all yeast from my diet. I read every thing carefully and try to stay away from MSG and yeast and yeast extract and I went from having a bad sinus infection every single month to having maybe two a year,

Yes I have one. I was having ear pain that wouldn't go away. Also had dizziness and sinus infections. THought maybe I had a brain tumor. Had a CT scan and an MRI and they said that I had a right 12mm maxillary sinus cyst/polyp.

The doctor told me that it would cause more harm than good to remove it. When I get dizzy, I take benedryl and that seems to help for some reason. I have fluid in my ears that won't seem to drain. I think that's what causes my dizziness. What really helps is an herb called Elderberry. I have heard that it gets rid of polyps all together. I took it and felt better in two days. Actually felt like the darn thing was breaking down. I heard and felt a pop in my sinus area (didn't hurt) and had some nasal drainage. I stopped taking it because you aren't supposed to take it if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
I'm a very herbal person and those work well for me. That's the only way I can get pregnant. A lot of modern medicines use herbs. You can get elderberry at GNC.

We are thinking about getting pregnant so I can't be on it right now.

My husband had them removed and it was pretty quick. He went in and had it done out patient. The packed his sinus' with a nasal tampon and it helped the sinus' hold their shape after. He has not had any return of them and does really well. He has used the Neti Pot and it worked really well for him too.
