Anyone Have Mirena IUD

I was wondering if anyone out there has or has had the Mirena IUD? I just had one implanted, and then to my horror...have read some pretty scary stuff on line from women who have had horrible symptoms/effects from it.

Among the many bad accounts I read, there were maybe 3 "good experiences" written. So, I just thought I would seek out some feedback from this group.

So What Happened?

I have received a handful of responses...all of which said they have experienced 'no problems'. This is a great relief for me to hear and now has me feeling much more comfortable with having this in me. However,...I am still not off the fence yet about whether to have it removed (have an appt. scheduled for Aug. 6th to do this). If anyone else out there has experience with the Mirena IUD (good or bad), I would be so grateful to add your comments to my little research here.

Big hug to the ladies who kindly responded to my concern.

Please keep in mind that often times when people make comments on online forums, it's to express negative feedback. Much more rare to go online and rave about something! That being said, I did have Mirena for 11 months. I liked it at first, despite the spotting that lasted on & off for the first 4-6 months. Things then were great for a few months, but the spotting returned to the point that I was bleeding nearly every day. Talk about effective birth control! :) My doctor said that it appeared the Mirena was keeping my uterine lining TOO thin, so that's what caused the constant spotting. After having an ultrasound to make sure there was nothing else going on, I opted to have my Mirena swapped for a Paraguard. I've had the Paraguard for about 2 months now and am so much happier. The spotting went away immediately. On Mirena I didn't have a period, which was nice & convenient, and now I do have one again and it's a bit heavier and longer than my pre-IUD days. But I'd rather have one period than the constant spotting all month. The Mirena has different side effects for everybody & some experience none at all. Hopefully that is the case for you! Just be patient and give it some time. Good luck!

I've had mine for 15 months. No problems so far. It did "move?" one time, or so I thought. Went to the dr. and he said it was fine.

I really like mine.

I had one put in this past February and I have had no problems so far. Other than some cramping, which has been pretty painful but very short in duration. I love it cause it is so low maintenance and easy.

I had Mirena put in about 1.5 years ago. No problems, no pain and best of all...no period.

I'm suspicious that my extra 10 pounds is from it. But, I haven't REALLY done anything to get the weight off. So, I can't really say. Lol.

L.,

I had one put in in 2003 and had no problems as all, I was so happy to stop getting my period about 6 months later, however I had it removed 11 months ago to add to our family and have not been able to get pregnant ;-( I am only 31 and already have 3 children so I truely believe Mirena has something to do it me not being able to conceive again.
