I am trying to plan an anniversary get a way for my husband and I in August. We have done the Kansas City thing before and could do that again but wasn't sure if anyone was familiar with the Omaha or Lincoln areas and have something you could recommend. Do they have an area that is like Crown Center or the Plaza in KC?

What can I do next?

I loved our vacation trip to Billings MT. On the way we stopped in Lincoln and Omaha.

I enjoy doing museums and other types of sightseeing type things.

My hubby was enthralled with the SAC museum about half way between Omaha and Lincoln.

I took enough pictures there to fill a whole scrapbook of just our time there.

The only draw back is that it is a "look only" style museum. But still worth every moment and penny. I loved the pizza we had there too. It reminded me of elementary school lunches from so long ago. No one makes pizza like that anymore......MMMMMmmmm.

My favorite place to go was the Freedom Park Museum.

I took enough pictures to fill a scrapbbok of this one place and finished it first....it is all hands on. You can climb on the ships, sit in the gunnery persons seat, behind the wheel, each nook and cranny is where you can touch it and enjoy it. There is one one the water, a sub on the ground. That one was a bit "close quarters" for me, a ship on the ground, helicopters, old ambulances, all out in the open and ready for you to check out.

Think "out in the open" to interpret it as bird pooh and dirt so be sure and carry hand sanitizer.

I actually thought the Nebraska travel guide was far better than any other state I had been to. They did sections of the state and made it so easy to find what was enjoyable to me in that area.

Here's a link to get one for yourself.

We were in Omaha for a volleyball tournament this spring and it is an awesome town! While we mostly did "family" things as opposed to "couple" things, I did notice some cool ideas! They have a downtown area which had great night life. We ate at Spaghetti Factory and it was wonderful. There are casinos, if you like that sort of thing. I believe the zoo would be fun as a couple, too! I think Omaha would be a fun getaway!!!

I am very familiar with the Omaha area, but not so much Lincoln.

The Old Market area is probably the kind of area that would be similar to the Plaza area. Lots of old buildings with quaint restaurants and fun shops. You can walk down near the riverfront and there are carriage rides and often other activities on the weekends.
