Hi Everyone,

I am trying to figure out if I should have a birthday party for my kids at home or at a kid friendly place. It would be more expensive to have it somewhere, but a lot easier too!
I came across an ad for Monkey Joe's today and I was wondering how it rates. I know the cost, but their website really doesn't show many photos of the place. Is the staff supervision good? Are they helpful and friendly? The woman I spoke with from there was okay, but she didn't elaborate on anything... short and to the point. Is it similar to Pump It Up? Any other places to recommend to me for 8 yr. old boy/girl twins, would be helpful, too.

Thanks so much!

I've only been to the Monkey Joe's in Wheaton. My kids and I really like it, and the party rooms look really good. But be aware...Monkey Joe's is always open for "walk-ins," so you will be "sharing" the entire place with whoever happens to come that day. Obviously, the general public can't come into your party room, but if it's a crowded day, your party will be part of the general chaos. The upside of this is that, after you time in the party room ends, everyone can stay and jump as long as they want until closing time!

Monkey Joe's is better than Pump It Up, in my opinion. The facility in Lake Zurich appears quite new. For example, the stairs to the top of a slide are still firm, making it easy to climb.

There are jumping rooms set aside for little ones and new walkers. There is a small arcade in the facility, too. We spent time doing skeeball and the basketball game.

Since we were in the facility for drop-in play, I don't know what the supervision will be for parties. The employee who supervised while we were there (middle of the week, morning) was excellent. He was on top of things. He was super helpful when the skeeball machine wasn't working, and he gave us extra tokens for our trouble. Also, I saw him chatting it up with a few other patrons during our stay.

A drawback for me is that we cannot bring in our own food or drinks. The food that they make available is reasonably priced.

We were at Monkey Joe's (Wheaton) for a b-day party a few weeks ago. It is the new and popular place for a kid party in our area. The party hostess/parent had the party booked until 7:30 pm. The MJ employees began deflating many of the bouncy things at 7 pm. She quickly pointed out that her party was to go on for another 30 minutes. They corrected the matter without incident.

We have been there for drop in play as well. The number of employees seems to have dipped since their Grand Opening 6-8 months ago (surprise, surprise). However, on our last visit I did witness an employee quickly and with appropriate tone/technique intervene when some kids were becoming abit rough. It was nice to see his quick action. And lastly, at least in Wheaton, the employees have not been very well informed about the online specials/pricing. I even had to review it in detail with a manager (newly hired I believe). Just be sure to review all of the details online first before booking a party.

Best wishes!

It is like Pump it Up but it is open for walk in as well. What is nice your guest can stay longer and play once your party is over. My daughter is 5 and loved it! The party hostess was very nice.

I know your Party has already passed, but The TreeHouse in Lake Zurich is also a great place for a party... If you're looking for a place with friendly, helpful staff, this is the place to go. they're very helpful about party planning and don't try to pressure you into booking with them. I booked a party there this past summer and it was great! the kids loved it. A bonus is how clean it is and you can see your child in just about any place while playing.
