Anesthesia for Essure?

Hi Ladies,
I'm scheduled to have this done in January, and the doctor's office offered my anisthesia. I know it doesn't require general. For those that have had it done, was it local anesthesia? If you skipped that, was it painful?

I know it's a very fast procedure to do. I guess I was surprised by the need for it.
Anybody have any experiences to share?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I had the procedure done yesterday, and it was a piece of cake! No anesthsia. Just a local for the cervix, a valium and a Vicodin. I actually watched the whole thing on the monitor while the doctor was doing it.
I felt nothing on one side, and the other was just a slight pain. Crampy for about an hour afterwards. After that, I felt nothing at all! The whole thing took about an hour in the doctor's office. Actual procedure took about 15 minutes. So easy1
So glad I did it!

Oh honey you get knocked OUT. I had it done a couple of years ago.

Not a SINGLE doctor in the entire city will do it as an outpatient procedure. You want this done in a sterile setting for sure.

Once you see the nurse educator you should have all the info you need but YES, you need to be put under. The recovery is FAST--but I milked it just because I could.

They are poking tools inside your body. Of course you want something more that just a local for the entry incision.

I havent' had it done, but I think it is an IV to put you to sleep, but no tube down your throat. Proabbly outpatient, and probably very quick. But still needs an anesthesiologist I think. You need more info from your doc before you decide.

I plan on having this done but not for a while yet...If I remember correctly when I spoke to my urologist she said I can have it done at the hospital OR or TallGrass which is an OR/urgent care facility it is outpatient very quick procedure but they give anishesia they don't do a tube they put an oxygen mask over your face to assist your breathing.I don't think it can be skipped but that is something to ask your the Dr who is peforming the surgery yes it is called a surgical procedure.Good Luck

I haven't had it done, but I do know what the process is, and it seems like it would hurt rather badly without any anesthesia!
