Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone could give me some feedback, whether it be good or bad, with your experiences on preschools in the Hugo/Lino Lakes/White Bear Lake MN area. I have a daughter who is very shy but really enjoys playing with other kids...as long as mommy is around :) She won't be going to preschool until next year but I am starting to look into some now so I can visit when school is in session. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

My daughter is also going to Abiding Branches in Lino Lakes this year. She starts tomorrow, but so far I have been very pleased with it and she is super excited to go. She is also a very shy child. They are extremely affordable and have many options for classes. I suggest you look into them. Good luck!

Try Eagle Brook Church's pre-school. I go to church there and I am sure it would be a wonderful place for your daughter! :)

My daughter currently attends Abiding Branches Cooperative (ABC) Preschool in Lino Lakes and we love it! It has expanded into two locations this year. The original location is at St. Joe's on Elm Street near the Lino Lakes Middle School, the other is at Living Waters on Birch Street (probably the closer location for you). It is a nondenominational Christian preschool which has involved parents. As a coop, parents are asked to volunteer one week out of each term so you get to know the others children and their parents.

I cannot say enough about how much we love this preschool! Check out their website for more information: www.abidingbranches.org.

They are still taking children for the fall and will prorate anyone who starts a bit late too! Good luck!

i have 3 sons all of whom attended various forms of pre-schools in and around White Bear Lake. Of all the ones I researched Oak Hill Montessori comes out way ahead of the others. It's on 49 and highway 96. Kathy Anderson is the Director. You can call and then visit. or they may have a regular visiting time.

best wishes to you and your daughter. Wherever you choose to send her, Preschool is a wonderful experience! It's a great introduction to school and socializing.

We love LADC, Lake Area Discovery Center. It is a Christian based preschool in a Lutheran Church. There are two sites in White Bear Lake, First Lutheran, and Redeemer. The lady who runs the program, Janet Miller, is excellent. My son went there last year and is back this year.

There is one in Lino Lakes, we haven't gone there but we hear good things, ABC preschool. They have a location at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a new one at Living Waters Church. It's a COOP, so they depend on parent volunteers.

I've also heard good things about Noah's Ark.

The Mom's Club of Lino Lakes hosts a Preschool Expo every winter. It is a great chance to check out most of the preschools in the area.

You can email Christine at ____@____.com to learn more about the expo.

If you don't want to wait until the next expo, I think that the circle pines library has a copy of the preschool book handout from the last expo. If you ask Christine, she should know for sure.

Good Luck!

I was a teacher (now am getting my PhD at the University of MN) at Oak Hill Montessori, and my daughter has been going to Oak Hill since she was 2. She is now 7 and in 2nd grade. I can speak from experience both as a former member of the teaching staff and as a parent that there is no better place for your child than Oak Hill Montessori. The Montessori method meets each child where she is and accepts her for who she is while fostering independence and growth. It is a phenomenal program. The phone number is ###-###-####.

Good luck!

Hi J.-
We have several kids from your area come to our parochial preschool- St. John's in New Brighton. It's Christian/catholic based more after Kgarten.
It's right on 35w and 694 so easy commute.
If you want to visit- I can help arrange that with some of the preschool teachers.

About me- 47 yo med prof, wellness coach, mom to almost 7 yo twin girls.

I live in the Mahtomedi area and send my 3 year old to St. Andrew's Preschool program at St. Andrew's Church in Mahtomedi. My husband and I have nothing but good things to say about this program and highly recommend it.
