When I had my last sinus infection I has terrible pain in my eyes and drainage, but not an actual eye infection. I just took my sinus medicine and ibuprofin. Good luck, I know how much pain you are in.
I have been sick the last few days with bronchitis, an ear infection and a sinus infection. This morning I woke up with shooting pains in my eyes. It feels like there are needles poking me in my eyes. I've rinsed them several times with cool water and have put cold compresses on them. They are feeling somewhat better but I can barely open them and they are constantly tearing up. With doctors being closed today, I'm not sure what to do. The emergency room is so expensive... any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks for the advice so far. I called my eye doctor and he actually was at the office doing some work before he leaves for spring break. He has called me in some steroid drops and if need be, he said I could come in for a check up. I already feel better just knowing that! Thanks again!

My daughter had pink eye/conjuntivitis this week-she put ice packs on her eyes which helped soothe them and reduce the swelling. You might call a pharmacist and see if there's any advice they have.
Also, certain HEB stores have medical practitioners in them on Saturdays for alot less than emergency rooms-this from an ER nurse I know.
There's a homeopathic section in the grocery store that may have drops you can use until you see the dr if you don't go the HEB route.
Are you taking any sinus med...sudafed or benadryl? If not these might help relieve the pressure in your eyes.
C.,
Did you try putting some warm tea bags on your eyes?
Hope you feel better.
Similisan makes a Pink Eye drop that most grocery stores carry
hope you feel better soon

I would get sty's all of the time. My lids would swell up and I could not open my eyes. I would have to put a very hot wash cloth on my eyes. This would help bring it out. I don't know if that is what you have, but the heat helped pull out the infection. That might help until Monday. Also now and then when I get a problem in my eye I will use eye drops with allergy relief just in case it's allergy related. It can't hurt if it's not that, it may just ease the pain a little. That's about all I can tell you for relief. C.
try a warm compress on them it helps ease pain and will draw out any infection in them. I would becarefull mixing medicne till you talk to a doctor. Try makeing a broth out of Ramen noodle seasoning and drink that about twice a day, that should help with the other sickness. The salt is known to dry out infections. Just a few of my own home remedies to try.
Hi C.,
I've had the same symptoms as you. I started using an over the counter remedy, simulsun, for two days and my eyes are fine. I actually bought the generic version at Target and saved a few dollars. My daughter's school nurse told me about it.
Worked great for me. I hope it helps you!
Take care,
P.
A little about me: SAHM of 7, ages 3 to 11, two sets of twins, hubby is in the Army. Weve been together for 22 years!
Do you wear contact lenses? You could have a scratched cornea and it is so very painful.......Keep up with the cool compresses and get some rest--do not scratch. The eye heals quickly but if it is an infection you need to see an eye doctor.................. God Bless you and good luck.. EF
You might try a warm compress, or try going to Texas Med Clinic.
Sounds like conjunctivitis. You will have to get an antibiotic eye drop from te Dr. You could try one of the quick clinics at some of the local HEB's. I think that costs about $60. More than a Dr visit but cheaper than the ER. Oh yeah, conjuctivitis is VERY contageous (sp) so wash your hands lots and a little Lysol on surfaces that you touch a lot will help. Good luck!
There is alot of pink eye going around. Be very careful it is highly contagious. Call the pharmasist and ask hom if there is anything over the counter. Get clorox wipes and wipe everything you touch or the whole family will have it.
Last about 4 to 6 days.
You may possible have conjunctivitis (pink eye). If your eyes are blood shot and have eye crust developing at the corners or the being glued shut together then that would most likely be the cause. try some OTC of pink eye relief they will have it at wlamart or any walgreens.
Hope this is helpful!
Get feelin better.
try an urgent care cente r-- usually the waits are less and there are these numbing eye drops that really work -- will get you through till Monday when you can go to the regular eye doctor. Also keep lubricated if you can -- over the counter drops like Thera Tears (drops) or Refresh PM (ointment, more like Vaseline consistency).
Good luck -- sounds like you need some meds!
Don't risk your eyes. Go to a minor emergency clinic, or go to the emergency clinic of a hospital. Shooting pains in the eye could be serious. J. K.
Try your local eye doctor. You REALLY need to see someone about your eyes. That's not something to mess around about. I used to work for an eye doctor so that is something I do tend to be pushy about.
Saline drops are excellent - you could even make up a weak saline solution yourself with some salt and water - use very little salt and remember the water must be pre-boiled.
Try all of these if you wish to feel better.
Cold compress on your eyes numbs so less pain, but does not help healing. Get some eye drops for allergies. Use just 1 drop per eye, rest with warm, not cold & NOT hot, just warm wash wrap over your eyes. Try wetting wash rag and placing in microwave for short time 30-60 seconds, But do not put on you eyes if too hot. while the warm rag is over your eyes,
move your eyes, with eyes shut, in circles both clock wise and counter clock wise. Do this for 60-90 seconds, then rest and try to feel your eyes in their sockets. Feel them floating. do this as oftern as you can , but only use eye drops when it is the correct time from the last time. This will help.
Now about your sinus problem. Tap with your finger tips around your face, especially above and below your eyes. do it as hard as you can. Serious sinus congestion makes this hurt. but do it as hard as you can and as often as you can. This stimulates the sinus area and will open up them up so the 'stuff' comes out and the pressure goes away. Any time you feel any sinus problems coming on you should do these two things. I know. I have had terrible sinus problems for 20+ years. Also you can take sudaphed, over the counter, for the congestion. still do these 2 things. But if you have high blood pressure do not take sudephed.
Remember do the tapping and eye excercise as often as you can, 1 or 2 times is not enough.

My Grand Mother used, and my Mother and I use warm Tea bags to wash the eyes.Steep a strong cup of tea, regular type will due. Let it cool just until it is warm but not cold, you can either lay down with the warm tea bags on your eyes about 10-15 min. Or take a cotton ball and gentley wipe your eyes with the tea on it.It actually feels good.Do this three time a day,you dont have to rinse your eye with water afterword, just blot yur skin dry. It will usually clear up.If not see the DR.I have Three Girls and I use this trick when they get pink eye.

Do not use cold compresses. Get a paper towel and soak it in very hot water. Apply it to your eye till cool. Toss. Repeat the process. Never utilize the same paper towel/towel on the infected area.
Sinus. Eat a tablespoon of honey. Drink hot tea and use honey instead of sugar. Adjustment but well worth the change.
Bronchitis. Hot tea... eat an orange... apple.... nature's medicine.
Do not walk around the house without socks/housesleepers...
Clean your doorknobs with alcohol or white vinegar... anything that is handled in access.
If you can, open your house windows to allow fresh air in and stale air out. THe stale air is full of germs. Sit outside in the warm sun for 30 minutes or so. The sun is a natural healer/provided of vitamin D or A. Cannot remember at this point.
Enjoy your day.
You poor thing!
I just went through 2 weeks of hell. Same thing for me. I had a severe upper respiratory tract infection, sinus infection etc. The shooting pains in the eyes is Pink Eye. My left felt like that the first 3 days or so, then it got REALLY red. Tearing, MAJOR sandmans in the mornings and constantly leaking. You need to go to the doctor on Monday, your GP (because Eye doctors don't help) and get them to check your eye. If you go, and they say it isn't Pink Eye...Give it a few days and GO BACK! Apparently mine was in the Incubation Stage when I went in the first time. I went in on a Thursday, they said No. Went in the following Monday and they said I had Full-blown Pink Eye and VERY contagious.
Wash your hands all day long. Do not have your hands in contact with your childrens' face...and unfortunately, since I notice your a schoolteacher---they may tell you to stay home. I was supposed to start the 24hr Fitness the day they diagnosed me and they told me I couldn't go anywhere in public for a WEEK or two...
Good luck! Keep up the warm compresses for now and if your vision starts to blur, like mine did, it's because of the swelling of your eyes because of the infection. NOthing to worry about and will clear up once the infection clears up.
CVS has a minute clinic and Victory medical has urgent care that take most insurances with your regular co-pay. I have used them both for strep tests on off hours. Not all CVS stores have the clinics so you will have to look it up on their site. This is in Austin. I don't know if everyone who uses this is Austin. I'm new to this site.
Hello, My mom did this for us growing up and it helps soothe
the pain from an eye infection. Now I do it for my kids. soak
tea bags in warm water and then lay on the eys for about
thirty minutes or so. Just make sure hot water isn't left in
the middle of the tea bag and don't use one tea bag on both
eyes. Use different bags for each eye. Also make sure there
is no hot water in the middle of the bags...you don't want
to burn yourself. Hope you get better soon!
there's Bee Caves Medical open on Sundays and depending on your insurance it can be the same price as your dr. co-pay.
you might give them a call and see.
hope you get better quickly!
