Hi there I need some mommy advice I have twins that will start kdgt this fall! This is our situation we currently live in Maple Grove but we are renting a house so not exactly sure where we plan to end up when we buy again next year! So here is the dilemma My kids currently got into Davinci Academy in Blaine which is 14 min from our current house which is not to bad! I have 3 friends that go there and they love it and I really liked it to when we toured it! Dilemma #2 they also got accepted into Parnassus which is 2 min from my current house but I have heard great things about them as well as not bad things but that it is a very challenging school and it is very rigiurus cirriculum!! (Classical) I love it for the convience but Im very concerned that my kids may get overwhelmed in here as well! It is one teacher and one para for 30 kids in a class! The district school is another option which would be Elm Creek which seems fine to but I do like the smaller comm and the parent involvment in the charter and the chance of getting into one for first grade is slim to none so I need to make a decision quickly but want to make the right choice!! It prob doesnt need to be this hard but I want whats going to be best for them! I also talked with their preschool teacher about it and she thinks with so many kids in a class they might get overwhlemed at parnassus?? Thoughts??? comments??? anything I would love to hear from you guys and maybe some of your kids out there go to one of these schools?? I also do know that every school is not a good fit for every student so this is why its sooo hard:(

What can I do next?

why not try the school with the classical education (a model i personally love, i have to admit) before deciding whether kindergartners would find it too challenging? it might be right up their alley.
if it doesn't work out, you can change.
changing schools isn't the best thing for kids, i know, but i think lowering the bar for your expectations right out of the gate is doing your children a disservice. especially with so many other pros going for it.

From your post it sounds like you already want to do the DaVinci Academy but feel that you should consider all options - go with your gut.

I agree with Kristina, it sounds like you prefer Davinci. I think the only problem is the commute. It doesn't seem like a long one and if you already know people there it might be good for both the kids and you. Don't worry yourself sick over the decision though because it sounds like all choices would be good. There isn't a crystal ball that can tell you which one will be the perfect fit. It is a hard decision but you have done a great job of finding 3 choices that all sound good. I am not from that area so I can't help much except to say it is wonderful to hear of a Mom that cares so much for their kids! Good Luck!

Not fond of the 30 kids in a class. Seems it would be hard to taylor lessons to individual learning styles, and that's what kindergarten success is all about.

You know your kids best. Are they geared more toward the classical type school? Would that be 'them'? Would they be going in a direction opposite to the way they are? Do they do well in large groups such as the one teacher concept? Are they more into the style of the district school? You have to make this decision based on your kids. It's their year and their learning situation and they need to the place they will learn the best for them.
