My Dr wants to start me on a high dose of estrogen. If others have this, what did your Dr prescribe? I am also looking for another Dr for a second opinion (and a closer Dr), so if anyone could recommend a Dr in the Allen/Plano/McKinney are I would really appreciate it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After reading the posts here I decided not to take the estrogen. The Dr that prescribed the estrogen has left the practice. I really appreciate all the responses and the Dr recommendations.

I was on the depo shot for years and didn't have any problems, that really helped. I have not had any problems in the last few years and have not been taking anything either. It never hurts to get a 2nd opinion or even a 3rd sometimes.

My ob/gyn is near Plano Presby. Dr. Riegel - ###-###-####

Kinda weird because I have endometriosis and am on Yaz- a low dose combination pill. Low estrogen, not high. From what I've read on endo, estrogen causes more problems, so why would he recommend high estrogen? I don't understand. Google endometriosis and estrogen. I even found this statement after googling... "Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent disease, so estrogen for endometriosis is like fuel for fire." Your doctor doesn't sound very knowledgeable on the disease.

I go to Craig-Ranch Ob/Gyn in McKinney and they're great. I see Sara Roberts, but all the docs are good.

No depo, no estrogen unless you are on USP progesterone cream, no bc pills either. Please, I am begging you to consider at least adding a progesterone cream to the estrogen being prescribed. I am a cancer survivor - endometriosis will not go away with estrogen. My mother suffered horribly with endo. and fybrocystic breasts. Was put on progesterone cream by a naturopath after I suggested it to her from my cancer research. She has never felt better than she does now and thinks she could have avoided her early hysterectomy if someone had pointed her to it earlier.

Because I feel so strongly about progesterone research and have moral convictions against birth control on the simple fact of giving a healthy female a class one carcinogen to 'feel better,' my ob/gyn and I are having a free seminar next Saturday in Carrollton. If you are interested, write me back for a flyer.

Not sure? check out johnleemd.com for some basic info on progesterone and estrogen's relationship.

Dr. Joseph P. Behan is out of Dallas Presby Hospital, but totally worth the drive for me from North Carrollton. Dallas Presby was an awesome place to deliver our son, too.
