Adding Cookies to a Cake Mix?

My husbands birthday is next week .Ever since Girl Scouts have put out their cookies this year, my husband has been saying he wants a cake made with Thin Mints. We don't have any more Thin Mints but I know Keebler makes a similar cookie. My question is has anyone ever added crumbled cookies to a cake mix? Did it turn out ok or did the cookies sink to the bottom of the pan? Any other ideas about how to make this "dream" come true? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I think Itsacrazylifewith4 has it right. Instead of putting them into the cake batter, crush it up, mix it with the frosting and put it in between the layers of cake and on top. That sounds yummy!

You could try a new version of frosting by taking some whipped cream and add a packet of chocolate pudding mix. It is a lot fluffier and not as sugary. Good luck and Happy Bday to Hubby.

Holy monkeys!!! That sounds GREAT!...Will you please let us know how it turn out? Great idea. I wonder if it would be any easier in a cupcake pan.

I would tile them around the outside of the cake rather than try to bake them right in.

I am not sure if the whole cookies would sink to the bottom of the pan in a cake batter but being a lover of chocolate and mint myself I have made brownies with York peppermint patties and they are fantastic! Add a layer of mix on the bottom then put down a layer of whole patties and then top with the rest of the batter and bake as usual!

I have added cookies to the filling for a cake. I make the frosting or whatever filling to be used between layers and then stir in the crumbled (not too crumbled or it is just crumbs) cookies. I once tried to add cookies to a mix and you could not tell they were there. You could also put crushed cookies on the top layer along the edges or something like that. It actually sounds pretty good with the Thin Mint versions.

Try a thin mint cheesecake! Crumble coookies and add melted butter, then press into a pan. Whip up a cheesecake and sprinkle some broken cookies into it. When the cheescake is done and cooled, garnish it with a little creme de minthe and chocolate syrup.
