You just have to walk away. You get a lot done when you do. I havent been on mamapedia for about a day and a half. My house is clean :)

Facebook could disappear and I would miss it for maybe two minutes but THIS site is my true addiction.

Some of the stories/ questions are freaking a-w-e-s-o-m-e and way better than any cancelled soap! Perhaps the AMC and OLTL writters should have spent some time on here and got some REALLY good storylines instead of pushing people down stairs, running people off the roads and multiple divorces/marriages.

I am addicted to the computer. The problem is, I feel so lonely. I'm a stay at home mom. I play on it a lot during nap time and at night, it's crazy because i know i could be getting other stuff done.

I don't know about websites, but I'd try to find another option that you enjoy and which takes you away from the computer altogether. Walks? Even short ones? The weather is getting better-- plant something in containers or in the yard. I can lose myself out in the garden, and always feel like I've done something worthwhile. Every time I walk by my yard, the work calls, but the work done looks beautiful.

What else could you do that you haven't been doing, but might think you should? It always helps to replace a habit with something better. Play with the dog; pet the cat? Get some refrigerator poetry magnets and make haikus about what you are doing while not playing hearts? Get creative!

When I don't want to waste time on my PC doing anything (whether it's FB or some other site) I just don't turn my computer on in the morning. If my computer isn't on then it's easier to walk past it and ignore it.

I also have several creative hobbies, rubber stamping, jewelry designing, crocheting, gardening to name a few that help to keep me from spending too much time lost in electronic land.

Either go cold turkey.
Or start setting a timer for yourself. I find that the best timer is the one on the oven. Unlike the microwave, the oven timer doesn't stop beeping until I physically go (into the other room) and press the stop button.

I love puzzled hearts. Start by limiting your play time to a couple of set times through the day. I know when all my friends have been playing it can take some time to go through and click on all the posts to get all the free hearts/or whatever the "prize" is. Just set a timer and when it goes off finish the post you are doing right then and stop. Come back later and do a bit more. It gives the brain a time out and retrains it to focus on other topics for a while,

I know on our computer. You can block out the website. I had to do that for you tube for my son. I don't want him atching video games. I found when I took them away . He would be on the computer watching them on you tube. I don't want him watching e10 or above. Most of that stuff is not for his age. and laungage i didn't want him to use. Good thing about it. I did and when my husband wanted to see the site. I forgot how I did it. LOL... Just need to block husband stuff life will be good>>>.. facebook is addicted. I get on there all day and look at nothing. .. LOL.... Im not into games. ... I'd never get anythign done.

How long have you been playing the game? Just curious, because I could have written the post a little over a year ago, but referring to Farmtown. Slowly, I just got bored with it. I think it happened when I finally reached the top level, then the creators updated it and made more top levels. You'll eventually get bored with your game too. I did find another game I like, but once I got off my addiction to Farmtown, I was not really into the games like before.
