I am looking for a penpal for my 8 year old daughter. I was wondering where to go to find one. I would like one in a different state, so she can learn from her penpal as well as work on her writing and reading skills. If anyone knows of some good sites to go to, that would be wonderful! Thank you!!!

I have 2 daughters that are 9 and 11, I could have one of them write to her if you do not mind the age difference. My 9 yr old will be 10 in August. Please fill free to contact me at ____@____.com

I think that it is a great idea for a child to have a pen pal. I had a pen pal when I was in school and I was looking forward to all the letters.
I was reading your message to my husband and we came up with "any soldier.com". What a way to learn about a different state or even a different country. I know many soldiers who love getting letters.

I don't know if this will help, but I tried to start that with my daughter and her Brownie troop last year. I guess they used to have pen pals with other girls through scouts but have stopped for safety reasons. You could see if that has changed. Otherwise I did find another troop nearby that we tried to connect with. Have you tried any high schools or colleges that might have exchange students that could recommend someone to contact. Right now we just write to friends who aren't in the area. Hope you find something.

Hi J.,
I don't know of any web sites but we're in Iowa and my daughter turns 8 in August. She loves to write letters to her friends and would be up for a pen pal. She is finishing 2nd grade. Let me know if you're interested and we can exchange information.

My daughter will be 7 in August and we live in Iowa. I'm sure she would love to have a PenPal. Although you may wish to have someone closer to your daughters age and from a different state than one being so close to WI. Just let me know know and we can exchange information.

Hi J.,

Teachers are always looking for little extras with certain students. You could try looking online for an elementary's school website. It will at least have the front desk number sometimes a teacher email. You could ask another second grade teacher if they have someone in mind. That way you could even pick the state she is most interested in. I'm sure you would find something. I'm getting ready to move from NC in a couple weeks, but still have teacher friends here that age, let me know if you want me to contact them. (Also I have teacher friends in MO and AR too that grade level.)

May peace be with you,
Amanda

I have a couple different I idea's

my niece lives in GA right now, I know she loves pen pals. If you would like to do something like that I can give you her info (after I talk to my brother of course, but I know it wouldn't be a problem).

Also.. what about a soldier? There is many sites where you can do that. When my brother was stationed in Iraq he did this and he still talks to the child years later. He said that he looked forward to the letter from the child, even though it was nothing major they talked about it was just one step closer to home for him.
