If I had a son, I was going to name him Grant. I think it flows well, even though it is only a single syllable name.
Good hunting!

I was looking for some suggestions on middle names. My little boy is not due until May, but I am stumped on a middle name. The first name we have picked is Ewan, like Ewan McGregor. We have another son named Patrick Brady, and we are interested in kinda sticking to our Irish heritage, but not objecting to a different middle name. Mostly I just want something that flows nicely and is more than one syllable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I thought I would thank everyone for their response. After much deliberation my husband and I have decided to go with a completely different name. Thank you all for your help. I appreciate the support from all of you moms out there. And the dads that responded too.

I'm good at Irish names, after all I'm a redheaded girl who grew up with Dublin Danu Fitpatrick as my middle and last names!
So, for Irish middle names with Ewan, I like Aaron, Patrick, Kendrick, Michael, Innis, and I know you don't want a one syllable, but I think Ewan Sean McGregor has a nice ring to it. You can also try looking at a map of Ireland, several kids in my family have towns as names, me, for example, and there is a lot of Irish folklore names, which is where my other middle name originated from.

Hi B.,
I love the whole naming process and would gladly name a hundred children (as long as I didn't have to deliver them all!) Thanks for putting this out there for us to help with. What do you think of:
Ewan Caleb
Ewan Declan
Ewan Reilly
Of course your last name will certainly influence how these sound...I kinda like the third one :o) Thanks for letting me have some fun. Congratulations to you and your family!
All the best,
C.
P.S. I guess Reilly is a popular choice. (I just read the other responses)
I personally like the idea of using Mom's (yours) maiden name. But that of course, would depend on if you like the name and if it flows with the first and last name.

how about Keiran-sounds like keer-ran irish name
Riley??
WOW, I Didn't even read the other suggestions before I suggested Riley.
Best of luck.
Aloha-
My son's middle name is Andrew which sounds pretty good with Ewan. His first name is Jaron. He is now 24 and still really likes his name. Jaron translates "to sing out" and he has really lived up to it. Was always a very vocal child, loved acting and doing new things. A name is special. I always hated names that were made up from two other names, usually from the parents..like C. & Kevin, "Kevol" or something stupid like that. Just try not to go with the most popular name of the times or he will have four Michael's in his homeroom class (as I did), or with something too "out there".
I am the mom of two boys and they were such a joy. I never had a problem with them, even in their teens. You are so lucky!
Have fun with the name, you have lots of time yet.

How about Douglas?? I think that sounds nice with Ewan. Good luck!
Try making up a name..find a few names you like and combine them to be different. My kids middle names were created by combining names. They have pretty normal first names but we had fun with their middles. My daughter's middle name is Ahnique... a combo of Ahnya + Monique. My Son is a combo of all his grand father's names...Victor+Allan+Albert+Henry= Valhen
Gavin, winston, clifford, brent, Barron
For me, a lot has to do with the last name, too, but for some reason the name Ewan Mordecai popped into my head. I thought that it might be Irish, but I really have no idea. I'm sure that whatever you choose will be perfect!
I am the mother of two beautiful girls. I think Ewan Michael Mcgregor sounds great.
Conrad’s on the new baby!
http://www.babynamesofireland.com <--- here is a link w/Irish baby names w/the meaning so u don't choose a name w/a bad meaning :). I'm bad w/middle names to. Although it is always great to keep a family tradition by using a elder family member 1st name or middle name and pass the name to your new infant.

We also wanted to keep our Irish heritage in our son's name. We used the baby namer on parenting.com to help us find Irish names. Ewen is a wonderful first name! Our son is Ayden Patrick. Good luck and have fun!
