A Basketball Question

This has to do with my brother. He plays high school basketball and just bought himself a new pair of shoes. He has been wearing them in practice to break them in. He is ready to start wearing them at his games, but they don't have any grip on the bottoms of them and he slips on the court. Does anyone know of a product or a way to get better grip on the bottom of his shoes so he doesn't slip. Also, I have talked to three sporting good stores and Academy told me there was a product but they don't carry it, sport authority wasn't interested in helping me, and dick's sporting goods isn't sure (I sent an email to them and am waiting on an answer). I just thought that maybe someone out there could help me or had an idea. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I coach and commission 6th grade girls, and we often play on "slippery" courts. We take hair spray to spray on the bottom of the girls shoes. Or most recently I just learned to take windex and spray on the bottom of shoes before/during games. Sounds silly but both work great! Hope it helps!

J.,

Have him practice on a outside court to scuff up the bottoms just a little. This will help and he should slip anymore. Also you can have him wet the bottoms and that will give him temp grip.

Hope that helps. Have a great week.

I played basketball in highschool & back then we used to spray aerosol hairspray on the soles of our shoes before the games. It makes them a bit more sticky and grip better.

Payless sells a "stick on" called non-slips / non-skids or something like that. It's more or less a rubber grip that has great traction. They do wear down after a while, but they work great. I use them for my "dress" shoes.
