5 Yr Wedding Anniversary Ideas

For my 5yr anniversary with my husband we stayed close by (we also had 2 kids). We are in IL, so I'm not sure if this is an option by you...We stayed in a nice hotel for the night, and went to a casino. We put money away for a few months that was "disposable" for the night. It was something different that neither of us had done. We started with dinner at a nice restaurant, then we went to the casino for the night. It wasn't anything crazy, but we wanted something different. It was definitely a great time though! So, maybe think of something you both have wanted to do, but haven't. That way for the 5 year mark, it's that much more special and memorable!

If you want to include your kids in the celebration, then make it a Family Trip to someplace fun. The Great Wolf Lodge in KC is excellent. Lodge of the 4 Seasons or TanTarA at Lake of the Ozarks is nice. Or stay in StL & make the rounds at Forest Park: do the boats & the Zoo....or City Museum. Lots of good family choices right there in your own town!

If you're thinking a Date Night, then what about one of the casinos? An evening in the Central West End...lots of fun shops & restaurants there! Search online for a concert close to your date.... Again, lots of options!

The cruise industry is having a very difficult time because of the recession/depression. You can get a 7 day cruise for less than $500 each, and a cruise includes all meals and you have lots of different places to see.

Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival and Disney have the best kids programs. Your kids will love it and you have time for you and your husband. (See Cheapcaribbean.com for ideas and costs.)

How to pay for the cruise? If you and your husband brown bag your lunches for a year and save the money, you'll have more than enough money to pay for the cruise.

We decided to give our room a makeover! It's a perfect tiem to plan it right now too! We were tired of our boring bedroom, and wanted to spice things up for our anniversary, so we chose our colors 3 months ago (our anniversary was a couple days ago) We choose Red, and White with black scroll and flourish accents, mirrors and crystal. To make is Sexy for us. On our Anniversay, we painted out room together, and we get to decorate it together, buy new sexy sheets and send teh kids to Grandmas!! It's a good project to work forward to, and it benifits you both!

We had our 5 year anniversary last year and we ended up taking a trip with the kids b/c our youngest was just 4 months! The "traditional" gift for 5 years is wood so we went and found ourselves some palm trees! haha! We took a family trip to FL and stayed in a time share right on the beach, it was seriously aweseome! Actually this year we are going on cruise which is sort of for our anniversary but mostly b/c the opportunity presented itself and I do feel you on leaving the kids, but honestly, we all need time to reconnect with our spouse! I think taking a trip is the way to go, whether or you do it with kids is up to you, I'm sure you'll have fun either way! The Great Wolf Lodge is a cute idea too...and it meets the "wood" requirement! LOL! If you decide to go without the kids, leave the guilt at home and have fun!
