My second daughter is 3 mths old. She takes about 4 45 minute naps in the day and at night she seriously wakes every 2-3 hours. This is wearing me out! Sometimes it takes an hour to get her to sleep again and then the process repeats. I have a 22 mth old as well and she never gave me this hard of a time. The girls are suppose to share a room but right now the little one sleeps in a cradle in our room to make sure her sister gets a full nights rest.

I am exhausted to the point of tears. Why is my daughter not sleeping? She s nursed and I do not drink any vaccinated beverages nor do I ear lots of sugar. Please help!!!

What can I do next?

My 2nd child was very difficult compared to my other 2 kiddos. The tricks that worked for us were swaddling with The Miracle Blanket, naps in Papasan Swing (I know, horrible habit but it worked), white noise machine....as well as sticking to a naptime/bedtime routine!

You didn't mention if she is fussy, gassy, etc.??? This could be a reason for her not sleeping well.

Best of luck! You both need some sleep....I remember those days/nights :(

Both if mine were the same. At 3 months you can't sleep train yet. I suggest doing whatever it takes to get some rest. For us that meant swaddling, white noise and sleeping in a swing. Those are tips I got from the happiest baby on the block. It's not magic, there were still night wakings but at least not every 2 hours. Hang in there M.!

I have a 4 month old and she still wakes up a few times during the night. I think that is still within the "normal" category. Several of the commentors below have some good suggestions (swaddling, swinging, moving to a crib, white noise, etc.). You might also try dark curtains so that her nap times are in a dark room. That, and white noise, made a huge difference for my oldest son.

The No Cry Sleep Solution has a lot of great tips for helping a baby sleep. The Happiest Baby on the Block is also a great book. I would NOT suggest letting your baby cry it out yet. Dr. Ferber (who developed that method) says you shouldn't start that until 6 months, at the earliest. I would also humbly recommend that you not use the Baby Wise method. That book has been condemned by the American Pediatrics Association. It is the only parenting book that has been condemned by the APA.

I only used a cradle for the first couple of weeks. Maybe try putting her in her crib and see if it will help her sleep longer.

First call for help, Friend or family. Get someone over to watch the babies that you trust fully. Then go sleep for a day. Catch-up and let your body and mind mend.
Try gas drops at night especially. Wake her up after about 10 minutes during the day. Give her a light massage during feeding. This will tire her and relax her and you.
It may be too quiet for her. My second even as a 3 month hold wanted a stuffed animal to sleep with. I let her have a beanie dog. She still sleeps with beanies.

I would say she is still in the normal section for sleeping, however I would think that by now she would be sleeping for maybe a 4-6 hour stretch at night. I don't have any great suggestions. I know when my middle son was born we tried to have him and his sister share a room and it was more work than it was worth. I didn't move him into the room until he was 4 months old because a wanted him to sleep longer before being in the room with her. He did sleep better once I moved him to the crib, I think he needed more space! However, after only a few months we split them up. I know many people have kids share a room, but my fear was if he woke up, he'd wake her up too and I'd be trying to get 2 kids back to sleep, so every time he started to wake up, I ran in and tried to comfort him. That is NOT the way to teach your child to sleep! So, we split them. The other thing I'm thinking is maybe since she is in your room, you get up with her every 2-3 hours but she might go back to sleep on her own if you didn't pick her up and start to try to console her? You didn't say if she wakes crying or just moves or whatever. We naturally hve times when we sleep deeper, maybe try to see if she can console herself back to sleep? Does she use a pacifer? They saved me with my first 2, but my 3rd wouldn't take one no matter how hard I tried!

Bless your heart, I feel your pain. My second child was a horrible sleeper. I would talk to your doctor. Just a few thoughts...3 months is so young and 45 minute naps are too short for both of you. I would try swaddling, sudden arm movement while sleeping could be waking her up if she is a sensitive sleeper. I would also try 'white noise', my son liked the vent-a-hood fan when he was having a gas fit. Is she fussy during the day? She could have colic or acid reflux. The acid reflux can be worse when laying down. My son had to take Zantac at 3months old.

I hope you find the answer you are looking for.

i hope you will be open to sleep training. I would read the book babywise. babies can sleep through the night and not be feed as long as they are 10 lbs. You don't have to live like that and neither does your baby! But you have to be willing to let her cry it out. It should only take a few days. But you and her will both be so much happier and healthier from getting a good nights sleep!! If you want exact details on how to go about it feel free to message me. Good luck
