Hi 14 week old baby sleeps about 9-10 hours at night..well on most nights:-)
however his daytime naps are really short about 15 mins-35 mins. He takes these naps about every 2 hours. I know it's not restorative sleep because it's not at least 45mins. I dont know if this is normal? Should I let him cry it out after these really short naps so that he goes back to sleep for a longer period of time? Please help!!!!!

Is he happy? (Relatively I mean).

If he's happy, I wouldn't worry about it too much. My guy didn't start sleeping longer (and long for him is still only 45 minutes) until 3-4 months.

And still, if he closes his eyes at all (even for a 5 minute car ride) that's considered a nap.

He's still so young, he's finding his way, I'd say. And if I were you I'd cherish the 9-10 hours at night!! I still don't get that!

But...is he napping in the same place he sleeps at night? Do you make the room as dark as possible? Could he be too hot/cold?

Good luck!

My son didn't really sleep during the day.
Right from the first feeding (8 or 9 am) he would stay up until the next feeding (11 or noon) then sleep 30 min or so and be up for a while then after his feeding (2 or 3 pm) he would sleep about an hour and not nap anymore until bed time usually 9 or 10 and sleep until 8 or 9 am.
I liked it better, I got to sleep and play with my baby during the day.

P.S. I am a SAHM

Dear R.,

I am a firm believer in the cry it out method however not in this case. If he is sleeping that long of a stretch at night then I think he may just be a cat napper. My daughter was she took three half hour naps a day and then would sleep through the night. I was thrilled to get a good nights sleep. A babies sleep cycle changes many times in the first year he may develop better naps the more active he becomes. If he does not wake screaming try to let him just play in his crib when he wakes, put on some soothing music, turn on his mobile (if you have one) and you never know he may go back to sleep. I think he is to young to say he has a set schedule and also to young to cry it out. Just be patient i am sure you can't get much done during the day, but you know this will pass and the things that can't get done will have to wait for now. Try not to get frustrated this is perfectly normal for your child.

My son would sleep for HOURS in his swing if we let him - but make sure you have 2 sets of rechargeable batteries.

That's my best advice - once he outgrew it he preferred to nap in his crib and still does at 26 months.
