We recently moved and our perfect refrigerator stopped cooling. so eating out and buying milk everyday is gettting costly. we got another used one. all we could afford and we are back in the same situation but har d to feed 22 month old when everything is spoiling. anyone know a resonable place to get a fridge or someone who can repair one? my husband is barely working(construction) and I can't really find work or childcare.

What can I do next?

Have you tried freecycle.org? You sign up for an email list and can post, according to guidelines, or respond to others that are trying to keep reusable stuff OUT of the landfills. Everything offered is and must be free to the recipient. Good luck!

Hi. You can pick up a new or used refrigerator at Joe Tadlock Auctioneer in Commerce (you can find his website online by typing in Joe Tadlock Auctioneer. He has an auction every Sunday. Refrigerators are one of the first things to be presented. You can get one for $70 and sometimes looking brand new for $150. You must pay tax and a 15% fee, but you will never beat the price. They usually have ten or twelve to choose from and you can take it home right after the win. I would say $50 to $175 is the price range for any of those on hand. Most of the people buying are trying to get a good deal, so the price rarely gets that much higher. I have seen a $3000 fridge go for $125. Good luck.

Good morning Xochilt,
I'm sorry to hear about your fridge. I dont know how big of a fridge you need but I got one from Costco for around $400. Works great. I've had it a year now and I have no complaints. Used items are a great buy but there is always that risk. You can also look on craigslist.com. There are great deals there and just a lil advise.... if you are going to buy an used one, Let the person you are going to buy it from know ahead of time that you would like it running when you go so you can at least see how it works. Good Luck!

If you use DWP for you utilities, they have a refrigerator exhange program. if you give them a call the may be able to exchange your old refrig for a new energy efficient one. Hope this helps.
