Any ideas on how to get through my all day long morning sickness. i'm only about a month along and i'm sick all the time or feel sick. with my first son i was sick for 9 months and i'm scared that's going to happen again. Any ideas on what may help?
Just a little update. Still sick, but the doctor has given me some vitamins that seem to minimize it a little bit. Wintergreen lifesavors seem to help. I'll keep you posted.

Have you tried the pregy pops? They worked for me and when I couldn't find those I used jolly ranchers. It's the flavors lime, lemon, raz, and ginger that are supposed to minamize morning sickness. So find anything in those flavors and if you can stand it try ginger candy.
I had the same problem and my doctor gave me Zofran. It is very expensive but works like a charm. I only needed it for 17 wks. then the morning sickness was gone, thank goodness. I believe without insurance it was about $425.00 for a one month supply. Our insurance covered some of it, but I still ended up paying $70/per month. It was definitely worth it. Check to see if your insurance would cover it. Good luck !
Dear N.,
I feel for ya girl. I had the same problem with my daughter. It was so bad I was on bed rest for the first 3 1/2 months. I tryed everything. From Pepto to perscription medication from my OB/GYN. The only thing that seemed to help me was taking a half a UNISOM in the morning and a half at night. It made me sleepy because I have a very low tolerence for medication that makes people drowzy. I strongly recomend it....if you talk to your doctor first!! My friend who is expecting her second child had morning sickness real bad also (she is five months along now) and she talked to her doctor and they oked it for her and it really helped. So give it some thought. GOOD LUCK!
Hi N.,
I've heard of ginger helping with morning sickness, but I am unsure of the way it's consumed. I do know of a product that can help you maintain a healthy balance during and after your pregnancy..it's JuicePlus+. I've taken it for nearly 10 months and feel great, I'm also trying to get pregnant at the age of 36 with two children already, 14 and 9 and I truly beleive that it's putting me in the best possible health to conceive. You can visit my website at www.juiceplus.com/+dl40646. There is substantial research supporting JuicePlus+ and ongoing studies, one of which is pregnancy relating to JuicePlus+. I've also heard that not consuming hot or cold liquids may also help with the nausea, just room temp. Good luck and God Bless.
WOW, I was too with my first child. With my second I was sick till the 5th month or so. I hate to say it..but I tried those prego suckers, lemonaide, aroma therapy, ginger, ginerale and NOTHING works. Even small meals and crackers!! I feel for you because I was there too. My cousin said she was given medication. I read that a obgyn will give patients who have severe morning sickeness. Do you vomit all day? I did like 6 or more times a day. They will give patients this because some moms start losing wieght instead of gaining. I guess it depends on your doctor. But if you are not vomitting along with the morning sickness I guess there is nothing they do. My cousin got lucky and they gave her some great medication.
I am finishing out my third pregnancy and have been fraught with constant nausea this time around. I have found sucking on Altoids in the peppermint or ginger flavor to be my greatest find. It kept me from having to go the zofram route. Sorry you are feeling puky. Good luck. Do talk to your caretaker about anti-nausea medications. They were very helpful for my sister during her last pregnancy.
I really feel for you. I was sick 24 hours a day for about 5 months. The vomiting stopped around 4 1/2 months, but it was a long ride. I tried everyone's advice, but the only thing that helped a little bit was citrus or peppermint flavored gum, candy, smoothies. It didn't make it go away fully unfortunately, but it did help a little. I tried reglan and vistoril that my doctor prescribed, but no other medication since I was affraid to. I didn't know there were other medications that doctors prescribe so I will look into it when I have my next baby. It can get very depressing being sick all the time. I got to the point where I was ready to give up. That was the worst part of it was not being happy about my baby on the way and feeling so down. I am sure you know about that since you were sick the whole time with your first one. I hope that doesn't happen again for you. Hopefully something will help. As you know it is well worth it so hang in there.
Well I know that everyone told me to eat saltine crackers but that did not work for me....but what did help was toast with a little butter. If you have already started taking prenatal vitimans you may want to ask your doctor if that could be causing such bad sickness that was what cause my best friends sickness. He was able to swicth her to a lower dose and just change her diet to add more off what you were dropping the dose on. I hope this helps and you have a great pregnancy.
With my son I had the sanme thing and working graveyard for all 9 months seemed like I never had a break. One of th e things that I found really helped meout was a lemon breeze gum. I forget who makes it but it's in a flat yellow pack at most 7 11's. Chill something but it was lemon mint flavoered and really helped
i also took zofran because i had tried everything else during my twins' pregnancy. it is very expensive because it is for cancer patients during their nausea bouts. it definitely does the trick, but i would try other things first, like always having something little in your stomach at all times. anything bland was appetizing to me, such as: plain bread, plain mashed potatoes, unsalted crackers, etc... i've also heard you can try shots of vitamin E (i think that's the correct vitamin). lying flat on my stomach was always the best position for me. i had to take it my entire pregnancy (although, near the end i started just taking half a pill then a quarter of a pill). i was afraid it would harm the girls, but they seem to be fine. Hope all of that helps.
Have you tried preggy pops? THey seem to work ok. I also sipped raspberry or peppermint tea. Your OB can also prescribe you something to help. The promethazine works ok, and is usually covered by insurance, there is also another one that is supposed to work really well, but it isn't covered by insurance usually. I will have to ask my sister what the name of that one is. But if I remember correctly, it is usually 9 dollars a pill.

I also had the "all day, every day" sickness (forget "morning" sickness) for about 2 months. All the suggestions below are worth a try - vitamin B12, coke, ginger, preggie pops, the medication if you don't work and can afford to be more sleepy, cutting out prenatal vitamin (or take it at night). And don't forget about your mental health! That was the really hard part for me - I started getting depressed and feeling like it would never end. I had a hard time being excited about the pregnancy and coming baby. Find family/friends/partner who support you and can help take care of you. Find a mental health counselor if you need to. And remember - it will pass! Even if it lasts the whole pregnancy, it will pass when your baby is born. Cheers to you and yours.
Pregnancy tea or ginseng
I had the same problem and I used Aloe to help with ms and heartburn. Insted of using it on the skin you drink it. The company my husband works for has it I loved it I wouldn't go anywhere without it. Send me an email if you would like to know more about it

I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks so I know from personal experience... You should get Ranitide (to control the stomach acid) and Ibuprofen (to control the pain) and Prothazine (to absorb nutrients and something - DOUBLE CHECK the correct spelling) PLUS get an IV inside you to rehydrate yourself with a special liquid at Silverton Hospital. They're more attentive compared to Salem Hospital. Your body is your own, be kind to it.
I read a posting below that says UNISOM, I don't know what that is. Look into that as well.
When i was preg. i was the same way. my dr. put me on meds. but it didn't work. the one thing that did work for me a little, was COKE. Small sips, a little flat. Along time ago they used to have COKE Syrup you could buy. My pharmacist said that ematrol (nausea syrup) was almost the exact samething as Coke Syrup. I had several older ladies tell me of this. And it truly was the only thing that would settle my stomach. Good Luck and Congrats!
I am another Zofran mommy. My ms kept me bedridden for months if not the whole pregnancy, with daily appointments for fluid IVs. With my last two (twins) they put me on Zofran and it had only just become avaliable. I lived on it for the entire pregnancy- every 4 hours, and yes, it was expensive (one bottle w/ insurance was 7 pills for $35). BUT my twins were premie (for other reasons) and at 30 weeks were born 4lbs each. Since I couldn't eat at all without it, I really feel I owe thier health to this medication. That said, if you are not this sick, try all of these other suggestions (I did and some worked with my singleton pregnancies) first. And good luck, I am sorry you have to go through this.
Wow! no fun for sure. A few of the tricks I learned with my kids: first I bought an alarm clock that can be set for 2 times. I would set the first one about 30 minutes before i needed to get up and I kept a tortilla beside it. When the first alarm went off I would eat the tortilla and then go back to sleep. Which was easy because I was always tired with my pregnancy. then when the second alarm went off 30 minutes later my stomah wasnt empty. I didnt seem to have as much trouble with morning sickness if I didnt let my stomach get empty. Another trick was to just carrry ritz in my bag all day and about every 15 minutes i would nibble one. Again to keep the stomach from being empty. The coke also helped a little if I just took a sip when i was nauseas and layed down on my stomach. But the one that really helped the most for me was the snack before i got up. Good luck.
with my kids inoticed i got sick if i ate a whole meal. so i would eat a little here and there. like half a sandwich then a1/2 hour later carot sticks, or whatever. also what you eat can make a huge differance. if you have the book "What to expect when your expecting" there is alot of info, basicly a month at a time. there are also recipies in there. i would call it the mommy to be's bible.
I would suggest getting motion sickness bracelets. Sure, these are commonly used for boating or what not but when I was pregnant my doctor suggested them. They are non evasive, non toxic bracelets you put on your wrists that have a plast knob thing that put pressure on a certain pressure point. You can get them at any sporting goods section of Fred Meyers, Walmart or GI Joes. It's worth a try! Hope this helps.
Talk to your Doctor about anti-nausea medication. They have safe stuff out there now you can use. I'm 30 weeks and I've been really sick the whole time too. I have a 4 yr old and a 5 year old I'm trying to keep up with and I understand your fears.
Best of luck!
