My daughter had her 15 mo at 18 months. She was late for her 12 month shots also. The doc we see spliut them up so she would not end up getting everything at once. he said it was fine to get them later and no point in making her get stuck a lot of times at one visit. A friend of mine gets her son's shots every 6 months instead and he was caught up by the time he was 3 so he did get everything.

Truthfully? yes. as long as he's not going out of the country or going to be around unvaccinated kids that might pass on whatever he was supposed to get vaccinated from to him (i.e. the whooping cough outbreak in Cali) he'll be fine. The "normal" vaccination schedule is in place specifically so that a child gets all of the needed shots before the age where they can start associating the doctor with causing pain. Double check with his pediatrician, but i can't think of a good reason why it would be an issue :o)

PS - pay know attention to those who bash vaccines below - your baby your decision. I don't know one mother nowadays who hasn't researched the heck out of the topic before deciding what's best for their own child :o)

It all depends where you're going. He'll be out of town to go where? A developing country? another city? That makes a world of difference. Don't listen to people trying to scare you. Though vaccines CAN have scary side effects, it's a risk that you have to weigh. I lost a friend when I was a kid to Hep B. He wouldn't have died if he'd been vaccinated... I travel a lot with my kids to and from Jamaica, Haiti, the US and Canada and I wouldn't be caught dead without proper vaccinations...
Talk to your doctor. It's that important.

This is the only country who gives shots before the age of 5 years old...You do not need to give any shots according to the schedule--and I would advise in looking into the shots before even continuing...

My advanced child lost speech, motor function, hearing, sensory malfunctions and ended up with brain problems all due to his 1 year shots....

He should be fine, but I would just check with the doctor to make sure.

Yet another article came out today proving there is no link between vaccines and autism. Do not believe the scaremongerers. It is far more dangerous for your child and the rest of the population to not be vaccinated. The link was based on bogus research which has been discredited numerous times since then. Also the post stating that the USA is the only country to vaccinate children before the age of 5 is completely false. I am from Europe, and babies are vaccinated there just like they are here, and I'm sure the rest of the world who are luckily enough to be able to afford vaccines. See how many more children die from preventable childhood diseases in the developing world where they cannot afford vaccines for all, and it is very sobering.

You are doing the right thing, don't question yourself.

Shot schedules are arbitrary - truthfully shots are hazardous and unnecessary at any age, they are a way for pharmaceutical companies to make more and more money while weakening our natural immune system development and creating more illnesses so that people will be going to their doctors even more and thus further enhancing drug-maker profits. If you act like a sheep don't be surprised when you get fleeced or worse - Americans have been getting fleeced big time. Anyone wishing to see what has happened with vaccines and conditions like autism can read articles at sites like naturalnews.com - there's also a set of links and free ebooks about this which I will send anyone who emails me for more info.

This is a question for your doctor to answer. Go ahead - call and ask. If 20 months is too late, see if there is a way he may receive his shots where he is now.

I'm very glad I looked at your question! "Fifteen-month shot" made me think that your baby had been shot and injured by someone! Yikes!

You don't have to have any shots done exactly to the recommended schedule unless one is a booster and has to be done within a specific amount of time. Check with your doctors office to see if any of the shots are boosters.
